Bonderman? What about Dunn for Oswalt? Why stop there. Dunn for Santana. Or Dunn for Buehrle. I'm not sure why they would consider trading Bonderman when they have a solid rotation.

Because they have young arms in the wings and need O in a bad way. I know it's most likely a shot in the dark, but it's a situation that would be needed to move Dunn for equal value...

Some of the RPs on the market this year are Beuhrle, Zito, Chen, Moyer, Pettite, Wolf, Schmidt, Marquis, Suppan, Park, Weaver, and Jarret Wright.

If you let Griffey and/or Dunn go, Mike Cameron, Torii Hunter, Juan Pierre, Gary Mathews, and Kenny Lofton are FA options.

Left field is more dicey. Carlos Lee, Luis Gonzalez, Jay Payton, Alfonso Soriano, Preston Wilson, and Shannon Stewart are possibilities.

Whoever signs any of these players will overpay because of the market. Of course, trading away Dunn, Milton, and Griffey would free up some coin to pursue someone like a Zito or Schmidt. But it's not likely to happen.

I think the catcher's spot is wishful thinking on your behalf. I see David Ross being kept over LaRue, and I would be shocked if the Reds don't exercise their option on Aurillia.

I thought it would be Ross and LaRue until they inked Javy. Who takes Cowboy at his price???

I think the Reds will eat some of his salary to help in dealing him.

Is keeping Ross worth at least 3 million???

You'd have to ask Narron and the rest of the club. I can't answer that question.

Eating 3 million for Ross is no more than bad management...

Anyone remember what happened in Colorado when they ended the era of Bichette, Castilla, Galarragga, and Walker? They decided to go small ball (see lineup listed earlier with Freel and Denorfia playing everyday) and lost about 100 games. The problem with small-ball in GABP is you "get 'em on, get 'em over, and get 'em in" -- then the opponent hits two 3-run bombs and you lose.

As I said in the Reds' circa 2007 thread about a month ago, I think they'll go out and get a big bat, either a right-fielder, a second-baseman, or a short-stop.

How about throwing some names out there that you think are real possibilites to feel the spots at those positions you mentioned. Also do you believe that's all dependent on whether they trade Dunn or not?
