TJames looked the worst on Brady's scramble and Maroney's 1st TD run; tackling he has been terrible.

 

Coverage wise- did he or Kase blow the coverage? They both jumped the short receiver?

 

The common fan watches and thinks TJames is terrible, play Joseph; if it was that easily seen, M. Lewis would have made the change already, unless you all know more football than Marvin Lewis????

Chad did not secure the ball. He did a beautiful job of scraping his toes inbounds but he did not have control of the ball when he hit.

 

 

If that is indeed the rule, which I don't trust the announcers(see Kase hit vs. Geathers hit), then it contradicts the "ground can't cause a fumble" rule.

 

If a play is over when a ball carrier hits the ground, then why not a receiver?

 

He caught it, controlled it, and got both feet in.

If they don't learn to control the middle of the field on both sides of the ball, they might not get there...

 

 

All phases of the defense today were suspect, but if I was to point fingers; the LB's and Safeties were the worst.

 

Most of time the DL controlled the point of attack; after the 1st cut was made was when LB's were not filling or scraping and Safeties were getting stiff-armed to the ground- Madeiu Williams included(I don't know if he is not healthy, but he has missed a lot of tackles in 4 weeks, especially when some local writers say he may be the best defender).

I completely agree with GT on that Steinbach has to go to center coming out of the bye week. I think he probably would be able to make better line calls for the team, and he probably could handle himself better. The line since Giachec (sp.) has been in there has been terrible, so he must be messing up some of the line calls, and also he just gets beat physcially beat by his guy alot too. Steinbach if anything would atleast be able to probably hold his own against the other teams nose tackle.

 

Also I would love to see Joseph become the starter over James coming out of the bye week. James gives up atleast one big play each week. Joseph is much more athletic and could stop alot of that. Then you could have James at the 3rd corner where he probably could do pretty good...

The Kase hit is tough for me. The receiver is bent over and K is running full speed... do they expect him to just let the guy go by him?

Like it or not, CP has been a different CP this year than last. Maybe that has to do with our offensive line suddenly not being able to block.

 

The D has to get better... when is Dexter coming back?

 

 

On Tory James, Marvin Lewis says differently; they do have a 1st round draft pick just waiting. If T. James is as bad as you claim, Joseph would be starting.

I'm glad I don't still feel like the only one who thinks Tory stinks. He's had a good career but his days are over. He is good for AT LEAST one big play per game and the Bengals defense cannot afford that. Also, the big plays that he gives up are too often overshadowed by the "picks" that land in his hands, like Sunday. He's too old and he's not Darrell Green. Welcome to the starting lineup, JJ.

One or two plays, watched by us on TV doesn't mean anything compared to coaches watching them every day in practice and breaking down every play on film.

Yeah you know what Tory does do a good job for most of the game, but every game this year and alot of games last year he always seemed to give up atleast one big play a game, and a big play can change the whole game, and he gives up atleast one of them every week. That is good of you to come to Tory's defense since everyone is on his case, but I dont see how you can defend a guy who does always kill this defense by giving up a big play a game. Maybe some times it is blown coverage and a safety messed up, but this has happened alot. Have you seen Deltha give up really any big plays this year, so it must be something to it with Tory James...I think of us would just like to see Joseph play becaue Tory is getting old and it would be good to give are future corner big experience. I mean Joseph could end up givng up a big play to by a rookie mistake, but James gives up atleast one every game too, so what would it hurt to give our future corner more experience then...

James has gotten consistently worse. I for one don't think he's that bad anymore, but he has slipped in the last few years. There will eventually be a "changing of the guard," but when it will happens is Marvin's call.

They had a terrible time trying to tackle Maroney. I remember one play where he must have broken five or six tackles on his way to the endzone. Also some questionable play calling, like the 3rd and 2 pass. I think Rudi can get us two yards, epecially since it was four down territory.

Yeah thats why Henry played right???? James is terrible and Joesph just isnt quite ready yet to take over thats why he's not starting YET.

The ground can't cause a fumble but that does not apply here. In order for there to be a fumble, the receiver first has to have possession. The NFL does not award possession simply by having the ball in your hands in the air. You must come down with it (ie land) and have possession.

No way....James has been getting burnt all year so far. I dont know if he lost a step or 20, or what, bbut he has been just awful!!

 

One thing this defense needs is a mean, nasty MLB, they are just way too soft. (thanks for nothing Odell). Simmons couldn't hurt a cheerleader. The D line gets zero penetration. We have the worst Blitz scheme in the NFL, and for the life of me I do not understand when they only rush 3 on 3rd and long situations, how in the world do people get open by 5 yards plus.

 

And on the offensive side...Carson HAS to hold on the the ball period. The O line was supposed to be one of the strong points of this team. It seems to me that 80% of the passes CP throw to the sidline have to be either caught diving out of bounds, or not even close. I saw a couple time CJ had about 3 or 4 feet between him and the defender, and CP trys to throw it too close to the sideline, and doesnt give Chad the chance to make a play.

 

And the positives, foul or not..its nice to see KK hitting someone hard.
