Is Ashland allowed to bring their own officials with them?

No.

Officials are assigned by the KHSAA. I believe this area's officials are assigned by Bobby Crager (sp?). School's do not get to pick what officials have their games, but they are allowed to scratch certain crews from officiating their games. Officials receive their schedules 5 games at a time, first 5 games, then the last 5.

And I imagine that's the way it was when Ashland played JC last year, and again when they play them again this year.

Ashland 28-14.

Yes. Actually the same crew has the game this year that had it last year. It's Kenny Johnson's crew, they are the #1 rated crew in this area, and for that reason they usually have the more important games.

Well it's obvious they like Ashland more than JC with the gift  they gave them last year. :D

Mason Co. will be the biggest test for the Tomcats since the Russell game – and it’s on the road.

Ashland is playing pretty good right now. The O-line is jelling and the Defense is down right stingy. I think Ashland will win by 2 TDs pulling away in the second half.

Even with these officials I think we should still pack our “mud-cleats” – just in case.

I hope you're right wise one and I agree the Defense did an outstanding job last Friday night from the starters down to the 2nd and 3rd stringers who kept GC's first team offense out of the endzone late in the game.

Should be a good game. Can't wait til Friday! Love to go to Maysville and eat at the Big Boy! Go Tomcats!

We have several new restaurants in town now so check them out. Also have some very good food at the tailgate party in the parking lot.

The Mason Co. game is always a good one - and a fun road trip. I’m sorry that we won’t be in the same district next season. We need to make this one to remember.

Same here. I was hoping they might keep each other on the schedule next season. But does not look like it is going to happen.

I've seen both teams play. Have you?

Actually, yes I have. I caught the Lafayette - Boyle Co. game a few weeks ago, when I was in town to see UK play the following day. Lafayette looked pretty good in their beating of a down Boyle County team that was 1-3 after the game I believe. I think Lafayette won by a field goal?

But I wouln't say they looked good enough to win 80% of their games against the Ashland team I watched play Greenup Friday night.

What new ones do you have?

Mason - 21

Ashland - 20
