Dang.

I guess holding them to 20 is kind of an accomplishment.

I just wish the offense could get going in these big games.

Sloppy conditions contributed to the lack of O. Manual had a couple of opportunities, but couldn't capitalize. Should be proud of the effort though.

X sounded pretty sloppy. Not going to cut it playing Male and the playoffs.

Not to be critical, I was there and I've seen this show a few times before. Manual starts on their own one foot line and goes the distance to open the scoring. PAT failed. X scores. Manual gets down to the X 3 or 4 yard line throws three times to get to about the X one foot line. Goes for on fourth and goal from inches and runs the ball wide to the short side of the field, stuffed for a loss. X takes over and a few plays later Vic busts one for a 70 yard TD with seconds to go in the half to take a 14-6 lead. X scores again in the second half but misses the PAT. Manual had a chance, but the 14 point swing at the end of the first half was too much for them to overcome.

^ excellent synopsis, that was my take as well... I am so happy that I decided for this game instead of the Male/PRP game. Another thing....St. X's kicking game still has a TON of work to do.

What was the attendance for this game. I know the weather was bad and the Stones were in town but the crowd was pretty small. I'd guess less than 3,000.

I'm sick of the rain, two games in a row, enough already

I'll second that motion!

Im glad to see some of the T posters are actually acknowledging some of the problems I have ID'd in earlier posts... Lots of room for improvement on the St. X side of the ball, O, D and ST.... I really dont think this type of execution will cut the cake vs. Male and Trinity in November..... Good victory for the Tigers.... Keep working and improve each week.....

Go Tigers !!!

In what was supposed to be a year where Manual would be beyond lucky to get within spitting distance of .500, Joe Nichols' squad has played the two Catholic powers pretty tough all things considered, beaten a top 10 team fairly soundly, rediscovered the forward pass, and sits at .500 with at least three winable games left.

Call me crazy, but I'm just not ready to bust out my pitchfork. Nichols and his staff have done an excellent job with this VERY young team. From what I've heard, it very nearly was a TD on one of those passes inside the 5, and then Manual maybe leads going into the half in a game that you said they had no shot at if Vic were playing. I'm not playing a hypothetical game- X won fair and square, and if the ref says there was no TD then there was no TD. But I don't think that this year people have any right to be on Nichols' back.

I mean, there were people picking IROQUOIS over Manual this season. And here the young Rams are, putting early scares into X and Trinity. This year, that's more than good enough.

If Manual would fire all their bullets at their opponent instead of always managing to put a few slugs in their own foot they would be a member of the big 4. With far less talent than last year they really are playing pretty good these days. They could easily be a spoiler for a team not focused. For X, a win is a win... a good start in the district race. Victor was not as hurt as we were led to beleive. That was a huge break for the Tigers... sans his running the game would have been even more interesting!

Great post...though I still think for Manual to turn the corner, it will be Nichol's replacement that takes them there.

Well put. Manual always seems to self destruct when they get inside the ten against X and Trinity.

I'm not piling on, but Manual had a chance to win this game. I realize they are rebiulding and no one picked them, but they had a chance in this game. I actually thought the QB had scored on the first run. They said he stepped out on the four. Three cracks would have scored in my opinion and I was right there behind the endzone. Then to turn around and allow X to score with seconds left in the half. I think that Coach Nichols is sometimes too clever by half.
