You're torturing yourself because Andy is going to be the starting QB for the Bengals for the foreseeable future and you can either enjoy it and the process of being a fan or continue to play the same retreaded tune that this team will never be successful without Andy as the QB. The difference between you and other proponents of a QB change is you bash Andy whereas the others promote AJ. Big difference.

My point is what rest of the team is he playing with. What I have seen thus far is the maybe group.

You have zero idea if McCarron would do better or worse in those situations. I think to many of you completely down play the importance of leadership and mindset of a qb in those situations. In terms of pure passing I do believe Dalton has a little stronger arm, and is more athletic. There is no argument from me there. However being better there doesn't mean he is better for those big game situations. As bad as Dalton looks in those big games, I am not sure how people can say his mindset for those moments may not be the best. Which if your qb can't handle those moments how can he lead a team to handle those moments. At the end of the day I do think McCarron like Dalton would beat the teams he is suppose to. Just comes down to which qb in the big moments could handle it better. So far with a lot less experience, even though they ended with losses too. McCarron did show better than Dalton has most of his career in those moments.

 

As for the pass no doubt. Someone mentioned that pass is why he is the backup. My only argument is yes it was a bad pass. However his bad pass was to a guy who won't make the team. Dalton makes a lot of those same bad passes. However when he makes a bad pass it's thrown to the likes of AJ Green who snags the ball out of the air out of nowhere to make a bad pass look routine. If Dalton throws the same exact pass McCarron did but throws it to Green, Green probably makes on of those snagging long arm diving catches and no one is the wiser to how bad of a pass it was. So for someone to say that's why he is The backup is foolish, because just imagine how many more picks Dalton throws if throwing to guys who won't make the team.

 

I do have some idea. In the times he has played for the Bengals, I haven't seen anything that tells me he would be better. Using your criteria, he played in the playoff game against the Steelers and couldn't score more than 20 points nor get a win.

Shaw will be playing safety and Brandon Thompson was cut.

Funny how that rest of the group AJ was able to do more with in his playoff game than sandy was ever able to do.

It would have been all Andy's fault according to you.

Andys first 5 years in the league were arguably the most sustained period of success in franchise history. He has earned the right to be this teams QB for years to come. The playoff wins will come.

Actually what I would have said was I was glad to see Andy finally looked like he turned the corner and learned how to put the team in his back in crunch time.

 

I fave Andy plenty of kudos that season for how he played that year. The only problem is he didn't do that in the playoff game did he?
