The Thoroughbreds used great defense and a couple of 4th quarter TDs to defeat Scott 17-7 in Week 0.

Cooper took a two score lead over Highlands in the 2nd quarter, only to have the Bluebirds score 42 unanswered points to put the game out of reach.

In the brief history of this series, the Jaguars have never lost to NewCath. Cooper has won the past three meetings by a combined score of 111-14. To say that they've had the 'Breds number would be an understatement.

Cooper Big.

Sounds good. But NCC wins by 3 scores.

Wow 3 scores....i would love to see it happen. Guess we will find out in a week.

Both teams are inexperienced and need to use non-district games to figure things out in order to make a run in districts and the playoffs.

Cooper is a 6A school so they should wear down the Breds. NCC did not face much of a passing game with Scott so unknown how good they are there. Offense got a lot better as the night wore on. First time in 4 years Cooper comes to Newport so that should help NCC. Cooper just needs to get out to a lead like last week but then build on it. I think it could be a fairly low scoring game.

Don't look for a lot of points in this one. Cooper's QB is playing out of position, and it showed against Highlands.

I agree it will be low scoring but Cooper should pull away with the win.

I think that Armour will be fine as QB. He had 1st game nerves and Borchers now has a good idea where he needs to work to get things where they need to be.

Two bigger issues are the line giving him time to set up and make his reads, and receivers having butter fingers. Again, hoping they will be addressed but those are harder to adjust out.

There are a number of players who will be coming back from injury/late arrivals who will also help, especially on D.

This team has a strong secondary which will help the defense become the focal point by mid season. As long as the offense can be middle of the road and give that defense some rest, and stop the giving opponent short fields to score due to turnovers, from they should be fine this year.

This could be NewCath's year to finally get that win! Go Breds!

Key to this game will be can Cooper limit yards in the running game for New Cath. Kelly will a tough stop for the Jags!!

Low scoring game, I'm going with Cooper.

Are there any returning for this game? Spencer would help the defense immensely.

Unfortunately it appears not this week. Spencer, Jerry and I think a couple others won't be cleared for full pads till Saturday - a day late.

It's a low scoring game. NCC not tested by Scott's D and the jury is still out on Coopers opponent last week. Flip a coin on who wins because a victory still doesn't say if either one of these teams has a successful season.

NCC gets win by 7. Cooper struggling to stop running game. QB's throwing too many interceptions
