Today in practice Flowers blitzed and knocked the ball out of Driskells hands and got reemed by Lewis.

I look around the league, and for the life of me, I can't figure out why the fans here hate Dalton. But then again, the members of this board are like that. I guess I should never be shocked. From an opponent's perspective, I'd take AJ under center everyday vs facing Dalton.

There are people who have earned their PHD's from college that weren't even born yet the last time the Bengals won a playoff game.

There are are parents who have kids in school that weren't even born yet the last time the Bengals won a playoff game.

There are principals for schools that weren't born yet the last time the Bengals won a playoff game.

Beechwood only had 1 state title the last time the Bengals won a playoff game.

Andy Dalton has played in more 1st round playoff games than any other qb for the Bengals and and this is their 50th year and he has 0 wins

You still wonder why there are so many Bengals fans that aren't sold in Daltons abilities? Maybe it's because they have watched entire generation grow up and pass on without ever seeing their team win a single post season game and they realize Dalton surely isn't the answer and now with all the talent they had for years they are also realizing that door of opportunity is close to shutting as we speak.

Disappointment...:idunno:

I think Pittsburgh fans would even disagree with you about their defense being very good during Daltons career. Against the Bengals and Dalton they been great, against the rest of the nfl not so much. During Daltons first two years they were great. The last 4 not so much. They were even in the bottom 5 of the nfl in pass yards given up two of those years. Also 4 of the last 6 years they have averaged giving up more than 20 points a game. So I think your 3 or 4 games a year is off. They just look dominant on defense against the Bengals though. Pittsburgh defense is getting better again now and on way back to being a top 10 defense again eventually.

I know McCarron could suck and make me wish Dalton was here, because there is no guarantee. I am just at that point where I am ready to take that risk.

2016 - 5 games by opponents over 24 and 1 at 24; the rest 21 or less

2015 - 3 games over 23 points allowed and 2 at 23; the rest 21 or less

2014 - 6 games over 24, 1 at 24, 2 at 23; the rest 21 or below

2013 - 6 games over over 22; the rest 22 or less

Yes, you were right that it is more than 3 or 4 games. I still think using points scored per game is a bad way to judge QB's.

By your own admission it's been a very long time. And if this was my team, I'd look deeper than any one position to find the problem. It ain't Dalton

Again, you make too much sense...

Disappointment...:idunno:

Certainly possible.

The way I see it the Bengals basic problem is they just can't get enough of the full package put together to get over the hump. There is always at least one piece of the puzzle that is too weak and prevents the team from being a playoff success. The really good teams are able to take advantage of this weakness. That is why the Bengals have such a poor record in primetime. They are playing quality teams that can take advantage of the teams weakness.

The second thing is the top quality teams usually have 3-5 dominating players who can take over a game against any opponent. The Bengals are really close on this one if Burfict is in shape and stays on the field to go along with Gino Atkins. Then you have AJ on the offensive side but he needs someone at receiver to help at least keep the double teams off him. If Eifert is healthy that is a big help. Same with Gio. Mixon is sounding like that needed stud. Maybe he can be that additional dominator that is needed on the offense of side.

Unfortunately for this season it comes back to that one piece that is too weak. This year it is the offensive line. It is going to take a shocking improvement by this group for the Bengals to get over the hump and beat quality teams or get a playoff win.

We all know the main problem. Mike Brown. Then it goes to Coaching and Marvin Lewis. After that Dalton has proved time and time again he can't beat good teams

and he crumbles under any pressure of big game

Fair enough. What's the best way to judge though? I fully admit that I can't guarntee McCarron would do good. However a lot of people seem to act like they know McCarron wouldn't do as well as Dalton. My point is based on what? McCarron honestly looked very Dalton like in his 4 games. Would think with more experience he and the offense would open up even more.

With Dalton we know he is very good when games are at 1 and 4 in the regular season. He also is very good at rarely losing to teams they shouldn't. I don't find it that hard to believe that McCarron with this talent couldnt get wins in those games too.

We also know Dalton has struggled big time in prime time and playoff games in all 6 years. While McCarron has in 4 games played in 2 of those type of games, and honestly how he played in those games would have been some of Daltons better performances in those situations. That's how poorly Dalton has been in those situations. McCarron also in one playoff game has as many tds as Dalton in 4.

It's definitely a scary prospect of moving on from a guy like Dalton who can get you to the playoffs. Which I do understand why most would be scared or think it's dumb to take a chance on an unknown on McCarron. I'm just more willing to take that chance than most people, because you have to have a qb who can make at least a few winning type football plays in the playoffs. Dalton hasn't shown that he is even close to doing that.

All teams though usually have some weak spot. All teams have things that may not go well in a big playoff game. Shoot someone mentioned that it was the 49ers defense for the reason the 49ers made a super Bowl with Kap. When in reality that great defense gave up over 30 points twice in 3 games in the playoffs. Kap and the offense had to make plays to win playoff games that year.

Things will go wrong in a game. Mostly every playoff team has weak spots on their team. However one thing in common for those teams that win in the playoffs. Is usually it takes their qb to step up and make a play at some point to help them win or at least turn the momentum when things are going bad. Dalton has yet to show he can make a play to help win a game in those situations or even change the momentum when things don't start off great. In fact usually gets worst. A qb is suppose to be a leader and you need your leader to step up in those situations and make a play to change that momentum. However Dalton seems to just add on to that slide usually once things start going bad.

By your own admission it's been a very long time. And if this was my team, I'd look deeper than any one position to find the problem. It ain't Dalton

This team has had top 10 defenses, durinf Daltons time. A top 10 running game one year. He has had talent to throw to. Yet in 4 playoff games he has one career td. He has been flat out horrible in both prime time games and playoff games. When you see teams who do well in those situations. Their qbs usually make some type of play to help them win, even if it's not a great game. Dalton in 6 years has not done that in those situations.

A leader of a team helps change the momentum of a game when things may start going bad. He usually adds to the bad once things start going bad.

Coaching definitely also has a hand in their failures. However Dalton definitely does too.
