August 14, 20179 yr Tony Pike (former UC QB) reporting on Bengals camp says that teams will blitz the Bengals non-stop this year because the skill players are so good and the OL is that bad. Says no team will allow Dalton to have time since the OL has been terrible in practice. It was so bad today that Marvin stopped practice after numerous sacks of both QBs and false starts and interceptions and mis-timed handoffs. Could the OL wreck a decent team?
August 14, 20179 yr I'm doubting that the problem is as bad as it's being made out to be. Agree but the OL is the one real question mark about the team.
August 15, 20179 yr They were awful last year, they lost their best two linemen to FA. How do we expect improvement?

August 15, 20179 yr Could the OL wreck a decent team? Absolutely. But I'm holding out hope. I was pretty surprised they didn't address the line in the draft or FA, but they'll be starting their 2015 first and second round picks at the tackles. I guess they think they're ready, and, that's what we burned the picks for. I don't like Andre Smith, but moving him down to guard will make things a lot easier on him, assuming he stays healthy. And, from what I understand, Russell Bodine has played football before, so there's that. So, I'm reserving judgement, but this thing can fall apart in a heartbeat.
August 15, 20179 yr If they keep Driskill as an actice 3rd qb then the Be gals have doubts about Andy surviving the season.
August 15, 20179 yr I don't claim to know the personnel well, but their address (or lack thereof) when it came to the OL was curious at best.
August 15, 20179 yr Author Pike says the line play is having an effect on the QB play. Dalton was picked off a couple of times in practice with rushed throws and AJ did not even break the huddle correctly twice in a row and was made to do it again until they could get it correct. So either the Bengals defense became world-beaters and unstoppable or the OL is just awful.
