Military funeral protest Saturday?

Sadly they want attention, they want to be on the news. They got their first real big headlines at the Matthew Shepard, who was a college kid who was murered just becasue he was gay, funeral about 8 years ago. They came to Cincy at least once to protest stuff, very sick people, having signs telling how many days Mr Shepard has been burning in hell, who are they to judge?

Also what is sad is that they "program" their hate into their children's minds. It is the same thing as the parents of the twin 14 year old girls, who sorta look like the Olsen twins, I think they are from Montana? Well, last month the community that they live in had enough and started harassing the two girls, no one wants them or their family to live there anymore.

They forget, they are not going to a city area, they are going to the mountain area of KY. One of these days this group will not get away unharmed, I just hope that their kids come out unharmed, as for the rest of them, I don't care.

What kind of human being would protest a funeral. I mean really, Is nothing sacred?

If they keep messing around in Kentucky, someone will get them. Where's a little vigilante justice when you need it?

I think it could be coming this Saturday. Fred Phelps and his merry band of misfits have chosen to protest at a military funeral in London this Saturday morning. A group of bikers are already onsite with USA flags waving and it is only Friday evening! The police have been told that if the protesters are silent, that they must leave them be. However, if they cause any sort of disruption to the funeral services of this fallen local soldier, take them in. The media trucks are already set up and ready to roll on any activity which could take place. Looking at those bikers, I have a feeling that Mr Phelps will have to set up across the street. I don't think they will be moving those bikers who were there first showing their support for this fallen local hero.

People like this who claim to be a Christian organization give the rest of us Christians a bad name in the media. Hopefully the media understands that 99.9% of Christians do not agree with this moron and his disgraceful method of protesting homosexuals in the military. I wish I could be there to watch it but have family plans for that same time.

Mr Phelps, ... WELCOME TO LONDON!!! We may not be the most suave people you have met, ... but I will bet you won't forget your visit! :thumb:

This does lead to an interesting thought. If there was a Christian organization there boycotting Mr. Phelps, which party do you think would get the most media coverage. Mr. Phelps band of protestors or the Christian group there to protest Mr. Phelps?

These people want you to hit them. They are funded at least in part by lawsuits against people who react violently toward them. Still, they need to remember they will be in Eastern Ky. this time. In the words of Rocky Balboa, "Sue me for what?"

You can't sue without a plantiff and some of them coal mines are pretty deep. :sssh: Not that one thing has to do with the other...

Someone should make sure Mr. Phelps group has seen the movie Deliverance before going to EKY.

This is one area Sportsguy and I agree wholeheartedly... there's not a whole lot of "Christian" I see in Phelps actions.

I wouldn't just hit them.

I saw those bikers you were talking about today. I happened to be going to 25 south to bypass the construction on I-75 when I saw the funeral procession.

I don't think anyone would mess with them.

The things that Mr Phelps and his group had on posters was sickening. They only stayed for the beginning of the service and left. I guess they weren't willing to see it through with the huge numbers of bikers and church groups there. The turnout to honor this young man from so many people was ver moving. However, some of the protest posters from Mr Phelps and his group read & I quote:

THANK GOD FOR DEAD SOLDIERS

GOD HATES (derogatory term for homosexuals)

DON'T WORSHIP DEAD SOLDIERS AS HEROS

Some of the posters used were not shown on TV as they were even more offensive and I will not quote them on here either. I saw nothing that reminded me of anything that I have ever learned as a Christian from these people. It was appalling and I am thrilled that they have taken their hate rhetoric and stench out of town with them.

Thanks to all those who showed up to support this young man's friends and family in their time of mourning.

I'm disappointed in my state's rednecks. Why didn't you show Mr. Phelps and Co. why their quest is dumb?

Didn't you mean to say, "Why didn't WE show Mr. Phelps and Co. why their quest is dumb?"

Upon reading this thread, John Grisham's book "A Time to Kill" comes to mind.

I don't know what you're talking about.
