September 28, 200620 yr I am not a big fan of the war BECAUSE of the loss of our soldiers. If I ever was at a funeral and someone tried to protest, they'd have to get way further than 100 yards. Otherwise there'd be several other funerals shortly after. These people want you to hit them. They are funded at least in part by lawsuits against people who react violently toward them. Still, they need to remember they will be in Eastern Ky. this time. In the words of Rocky Balboa, "Sue me for what?"
September 28, 200620 yr And as a society what are we to do now? Have to suffer the fools like Phelps? Give up a portion of our freedom since stupid, insensitive people do not or cannot monitor their own actions. I am sick and tired of people like this. Well, it seems to me that nobody has introduced Phelps and Co. to the consequences of his actions. I wish someone would. I'm not that guy, because I don't want to pay the consequences for those actions, but I bet there is someone out there who would.

September 28, 200620 yr This guy gave his life for us, the least we can do is give a few nights in jail for him...

September 28, 200620 yr Personally, if it were my choice, right after the 21 gun salute, I'd like to give them the good ole' Kentucky .22-250 salute. Here's to you, Here's to me, and if the 'tween shall not agree, then hold still (while I aim), here's to me!
September 28, 200620 yr Is there any law to prohibit a group of law abiding citizens from holding up several large sheets or other barriers a few feet away from the protesters to sheild the greiving from their display?

September 28, 200620 yr That has happened to them in the past most notably when they showed up at the funeral for Matthew Shepherd. There was an HBO movie about it. Several of Matthew's friends dressed in very large and flowing costumes (angels) with supports on the shoulders that elevated the garb they were wearing to a height of 8 feet. They then stood between the protesters and the mourners.
September 28, 200620 yr An addendum to may last post. While looking to see if I could find a picture of the Angels I found that they have tried this tactic several other times but it has been less effective because they have been required to form their own "protest" seperate from Phelps group.
