When I was in high school, I was at a picnic and my future sister in law (who was about 8), was playing jarts. One landed in another child's face, right next to her eye. Fortunately, she was fine. The ER doctor said Jart injuries were pretty common.

 

Later they came out with the weighted ones with the curved ends. They never seemed quite as popular.

Can't sell Jarts on eBay.

For purposes of this thread, I am thinking about things that burst on the scene for a short time, then faded away. Many items listed are things that lasted years, decades, or generations. Over time most things leave us for new innovations.

I used to play with these for hours at a time. They disappeared when kids started getting shattered pieces of glass in their eyes.
