Pirate movies are over, but his likeness is the driver of that franchise. Heck, he is in the rides.

It was a stupid thing to say but I don't get upset by stupid comments from Hollywood. I try not to let other people's opinions affect me. Everyone needs to chill out in this world freaking out over words. Anyone who is influenced by people like Depp aren't intelligent enough for me to care about.

Yes but some people are influenced by people on the silver screen on or off. Would you care if he said the same exact thing last year? No matter your stance, the assassination of an ELECTED head of state is a big deal, and our country is IMO is allowing to much freedom of speech on this particular subject.

But I would point out two things.

 

Our current President actually stated he could shoot (or was it kill?) somebody and his popularity wouldn't wane. While not the same thing, as you stated, words matter.

 

We do take assassination seriously, (don't really know any sane person who wouldn't). But the good news is we haven't had a successful attempt in 54 years and no actual attempt (that I recall) sinc 1981. That speaks pretty well considering the rancor some have used.
