Future of the Bell/Corbin match up

Also, if Corbin drops Bell, Bell is not going to really have any out of district rivals left are they?
I was wondering the same thing. How much trouble, and how much traveling, will Bell have to deal with to fill out the schedule?

I am hearing a lot of the problem has to do with the T.R. situation.

Build new rivals. I like the addition this past season of Whitley. I think the Laurel Co. schools would be a nice addition. Southwestern comes to mind and down the road a year or two the new Harlan County School has the makings of a great rivalry.

I suppose Bell could also try to keep Clay Co. on the schedule. They are normally a district opponent but with them moving up a class it makes them a new out of district opponent.

Corbin isn't playing Danville in the pigskin. The Hounds will be playing Paul Dunbar, while Knox Central will play Middlesboro.

Corbin also added North Laurel and will continue to play South Laurel and the Belfry game is a go, too.

Still a quality opponent.

yep.

It seems this whole mess of Corbin dropping Bell has to do with certain people,(not coaches!!) are trying to get Bell players to transfer to Corbin. I think that is a huge problem, and its sad if thats the reason this rival is ending!

Not true...

Not true...

I know its true. And again, Im not accusing any coaches of any wrong doing and honestly don't think there is any. I think Corbin runs a good program. But the fact is certain players are being pushed towards transferring to Corbin.

Belfry and Corbin next season? Confirmed?

I have seen some Bell Co. players hanging out at Corbin and I thought they were here because they were friends with some Corbin girls..............I guess that maybe it is all part of the master plan to get them here.

The final horn has sounded, the fat lady has sung it is officially over. Bell coaches confirmed that Coach Jewell told coach Hilton, this week, that he would no longer play Bell co. A very Sad day for mtn. football but even a sadder day for the SEKC confrence as we have know it for 30 plus years. Why? This was one of the few ways that student athletes got rewarded for their hard work. With the KHSAA realignment and and most of your teams in the SEKC unwilling to play each other, I don't see how it could exist. Maybe some good will come from all of this. As someone in the thread said earlier,

everyone will have to make new rivalary's. I understand Bell's 7th, 8th, and freshman play at Corbin thursday. With the two schools not playing any more, will that effect the freshman, J.V. & 7th , 8th graders also in the future? Will these games be cancelled also. Should be some outstanding football thursday at corbin. Bell middle beat Whitley co. 30-8 last night at whitley to go to 10-0. The 7th grade was defeated 14-8, I think. I know they said Bell fumbled inside the 5 yard line late in the fourth, they got the ball back after a saftey, and drove to the five yard line again a whitley held them out of the endzone. One of the Bell coaches said Whitley co. was the best middle school team they had played.

Can you even name the teams in the SEKC? There have been very few members play each other over the past several years, yet it still survives as a means to honor local players. In fact, with the exception of Knox Central which is a district game, Corbin was the lone SEKC team on Bell's schedule this season. I think the SEKC will survive without an actual head to head champion, just a nice awards banquet.

I heard that the straw that broke the camel's back occurred at the coaches meeting(SEKC I suppose). :argue:
