Future of the Bell/Corbin match up

Featured Replies

Corbin 7th Grade had their way with bell. Corbin's 8th scrimmage with bell was dead even. That is from a very reliable source.

Did Bell win both the 7th and 8th grade scrimmages against the Hounds? I was told differently by a pretty good source. I was told Corbin won the 7th grade scrimmage, both teams get a re-match soon according to my sources.

Your insight on the Corbin Middle School program probably isn't needed.;)

You may be right I was repeating what one of the parents told me. It should

be a great one. I have seen them both play. I heard the Carton kid from Bell

went back to Pineville last week. They said he didn't play in the second half of

the Bell/Scottco. game. He had some words with one of the coaches. I think Bell won it 56-0 with out him.

I am right i promise:thumb:

I might have a solution to this whole thing. When Corbin comes to Middlesboro

friday night. Why not let Coach Hilton and Coach Greer take on Coach Jewel

and Coach Farris in a tag team match on Pineville's field Friday before they both play. Coach Jewel and Farris can go on to Middlesboro and Coach Hilton and Greer can go back to log mtn. to play their games that night. Pineville plays on saturday so their field will be open for friday afternoon and let's get this thing settled. I bet you when Madon & Cashen went to Corbin they never thought they wouldn't have a chance to play Bell their senior year.

But, Corbin wasn't doging anybody then. I am glad M'boro and Corbin are in the same district next year or that incredible series would probably be over.

:fight: :thumb:  :madman:

You might get them in a Hornets nest with Coach Jewell:D

I didn't mean to step on a nerve True Redhound, I was only answering the previous thread question about the game.

Didn't coach Jewell and coach Greer play together? They may go together

and team up on the old men Hilton & Farris.

Jewell and Greer graduated in '83 ('82 State Champs) Duncum graduated in '84......Farris has been there through it all, Powers, Adams, Whitaker, Jewell.............

From what i was told today, the Corbin-Bell series is over for a while. This coming from someone who talked with Tommy Greer at the Corbin/Bell JV game last night. Apparantley Jewell called Hilton last week and said they were not going to continue the series. From what I hear, Dudley will no longer play JV or Freshman games against Corbin due to this

I'm sure that Corbin will always think that they can play with Bell and with the players they have returning for the next couple of years would more than likely be favored over Bell. Bell has won 3 in a row and 4 of the last 6 games though, but it has nothing to do with the competition end of it.

Ask Coaches Hilton & Greer, they should know why.

Favored?? Bell starts 8 sophomores and a freshmen and only loses 5 seniors who start. I think thats a big stretch. Thats one thing that is annoying about this whole situation is next year some Corbin people will be saying they are better than Bell County, when we will never know because of what Corbin has decided to do.

I am upset as a Bell County fan and Corbin fans IMO should be upset too. There is no good reason to end this series. How many teams does Corbin play that the visiting stands is completely full? And the same goes for Bell County for the most part.

Corbin, just like Middlesboro is backing down from a challenge. I think this is a sad day for Corbin and Bell County football.

Don't think a lot of Corbin fans arent highly PO'd about this. A lot of people I've heard talk about it would rather change the school colors than mascot than end this series.... A LOT!!

Check out the Pikeville/Bell thread.

If Coach Jewell was dropping the series because he thought Corbin could not compete, it would have happened after the 2004 season. He knew that Corbin would struggle for a year or possibly a year and a half due to the lack of seniors on the 2005 & 2006 teams. At that time Corbin had won 3 out of the last 5 games.

Corbin loses two senior starters out of the seventeen different players that start and will return eight juniors and seven sophomores that start. Coach Jewell is a pretty intelligent man, so does it make sense to play Bell Co.(contract was up before the 2005 season) when you have two returning starters(2005 team)and then drop them when you have fifteen returning starters?

Why would you add Danville and Belfry(teams that are equal to or better than Bell year-in and year-out)if you are running from competition?

I hope they play myself, but if I were in Coach Jewell's shoes I would probably do the same thing.

How will Corbin play in their bowl game and also in the Pike Co Bowl next season?

Those bowls are both week 1 bowls, right? Obviously one of them will move back a week, but which one? Does anyone know the dates?
