You can if they are co-ed. Well you can tell how much they paid in salaries for basketball coaches (for Boys coaches and Girls coaches) by looking at the Title IX data on the KHSAA website.

I think Ballard is the top job.

 

Bowling Green, Hopkinsville, & Scott County would be my 2-4 group, but I'm not sure how I'd order them. Number 5 would be between Owensboro & Pleasure Ridge Park.

 

I probably look too much at schools being historical powers. I just know that when I think of Kentucky boys high school basketball, Ballard is the first team that comes to mind.

For my own region (the 10th), it is unquestionably Mason County.

Looked it up, it just shows the total salaries for each sport not a breakdown of how much goes to the head coach. You can still get a general idea of how much a school district is willing to spend.

I don't know if I could list 25. But at the top I would put the following in no particular order:

 

Ballard, CovCath, Scott Co., Hoptown, Bowling Green, Owensboro, Trinity, NCC, Christian County, Lex Cath, St X to name a few.

Pretty sure CCH has the most wins in the last 5 years plus a title. It's in the discussion.

Are we talking a job that you can win at or are we talking money? If we're talking wins then the jobs mentioned above definitely should be talked about. If we are talking money then it's a different ballgame. I know that Boyle County Ranks pretty high in the state as far as paying its coaches. I'm not talking a ton of money but the head basketball coach makes about an extra $9,000-11,000 a year to coach where in Louisville they make about $4,500 to 7,500. Most areas in the state pay close to the Louisville range.

Not even surprised that you and I are on the same page. I think people look at history and name recognition instead of the whole picture. I think there are more reasons stating why Boyle County is a top 25 job than not.

When I am thinking too 25 jobs I am thinking a lot of things.

 

Location, tradition, pay, administration, talent pipeline, booster club support, fan support/community. I think each of these things factor into how good a job it can be.

I think Cooper has had to have made its way on to this list in the last few years. Probably in the 16

 

Could not agree more with your comment KOC. What Cooper has done in it's 9 year existence is pretty incredible and the upside is certainly bright. Add to the fact that the housing development continues to grow exponentially in the Cooper district it will only get better. I will certainly not be surprised if Cooper competes for a trip to Rupp for several years to come. 2016-17 was not a fluke and the pipeline continues to look pretty full. Great program and certainly one of the hottest coaches in the State so IMO Cooper is one of the top 25 jobs.

We will have to disagree. I agree with PP on my reason why.

It is interesting to me that many have included St. X as a top 25 job. It certainly has the facilities and a large student population from which to select a team, but it has been to the state tournament exactly once since 1970. Perhaps that just shows the difference between a top 25 job and a top 25 program.

I didn't include Male or St. X on my list not because they aren't good jobs but the roadblocks that Trinity and Ballard present every year have to put a damper on their ceiling of success. I think that makes a difference in how good a job can be.
