ESPN Cutting Employees Today

Featured Replies

I didn't see any reports of his demise.

He has not been on air dancing with Max for awhile.

As is the amount of schadenfreude in this thread.

It sucks for the employees, most of which are probably great people, but yes, I'm guilty of taking great pleasure in seeing the company fail. ESPN is trash IMO.

Fair enough. I don't get it, but I clearly understand your position on the subject.

I guess I don't get why people think they are trash.

I don’t either. Granted, I don’t watch it anywhere near as much as I used to, but that’s more on me and my changing habits as to how I get my sports news (which is online) rather than anything ESPN has done.

I watch when a game is on I want to see or if there is a 30 for 30 I want to see. If I'm home I will watch Mike and Mike or LeBatard, sometimes Pardon the Interruption. But it's not like FS1 is better. They don't have near the level of games and their shows aren't very good.

Same here. I used to have SC on all the time when I was younger, but I just don’t have the time now. I watch sports live and get the news on the internet (and ESPN could make their site more user friendly).

Couldn't agree more about their website. I used to spend a lot of time on ESPN's website. But the change they made a few years ago, really hampered my enjoyment of the site. It was a definite step back in terms of design and UI. I still visit but now it's every couple days vs every couple hours.

Outside of live sports, Van Pelt, and 30 for 30s. They fill the day with people arguing over each other and making up ridiculous hot takes. It's really unbelievable people watch those shows.

They talk about political and social issues almost as much as sports. They talk down to the part of the audience that disagrees with them. I made the mistake of tuning into First Take earlier this year and found out Max Kellerman is now one of our great political minds or so he would have you think.

I find no pleasure in people losing their jobs. I mean besides Sarah Spain, if she loses her job I will light a cigar.

I don't watch first take so I'll take your word for it. What I do watch and listen too isn't political except LeBatard. I like his show even though I disagree with a lot of his positions.

LeBatard is a big part of the problem . He is now a talent maker.

I find listening to LeBatard's show like listening to fingernails on chalk board. I have tried to listen but just cannot...and it is not just because of his politics, which I don't agree with usually. I just don't find his attempts at humor funny AT ALL. I know some disagree with me, which is fine, but I would rather listen to just about anything over his show.
