One thing a lot a folks say, especially when applying for a job or interviewing for a job is "I am a people person." I'm assuming that means that one likes being around people and engaging with people. Would you say that you are a "people person" ?

Ted Kaczynski is probably not a people person. The little old lady who greets you with cheer and a smile as you enter Walmart probably is a people person. I'm with RTS when he says that , in general, people suck. I really have no desire to engage the general public on a daily basis. When I'm not at work, I usually prefer hanging around the house rather than hanging around a bunch of people. Like Ted, I like math and science , but I have no desire to make bombs. I'd say, broadly speaking, I'm definitely not a huge fan of people.

What do you say? Are you a" people person" who enjoys engaging lots of people on a daily basis or are you someone who would prefer not being around a lot of people? You do what you have to do each day but then you want to be left alone. Which are you?

I'm lucky in that I enjoy engaging with the people I work with and most of the students as well. I do love college campuses. However, I can't imagine the agony of having to deal with the general public, say at Walmart or a KFC everyday. I would go berserk. I don't think I meet the threshold of being classified as a "people person."

I love people watching and like to chat with strangers. However I have no tolerance for stupid people.

I'll sit on a plane for 4 hours and never speak to the person next to me though. Just my down time I guess.

I also enjoy "people watching" (from a distance, of course) :)

I will make small talk with pretty much anybody. Embarrasses my avatar sometimes.

That's me. I can strike up a conversation with anyone. My goal in meeting a pure stranger is to find some commonality between us that helps me instantly relate to them. It really drives me nuts to meet someone that I have absolutely nothing in common with them...but I have met a few "Freaks" that I just never could connect with, one was my boss for a short period :banghead:

I retired a while back from working with the public over 30 years. Seen and experienced a lot of good and bad. To be honest, I'm very glad I no longer have to do that.
