Agreed. Any body of water should always be used with caution.

Whas-11 news just reported that the girl was near the second sandbar. She received 120 stitches.

Play around the 2nd sandbar and you are putting yourself at risk. It's unfortunate but she should have never been out there.

Someone once told me that shark bites are on the rise because the ocean is getting "fished out" and sharks are coming in closer for food. Don't know if that is true or not, but I think about it every time I visit the ocean.

And just in case everyone forgot, there are crocodiles and alligators near ponds and lakes in Florida too.

Not true. They have always been there. There are just more people in the water each year.

Dude I'm so scared of sharks. No joke, we were snorkeling in about 10-15 feet of water in a beautiful reef on our honeymoon; my wife thought I was being cute sticking right with her. The reality was I felt more secure being close to another decent sized animal lol

 

I was wearing myself out because I kept doing a 360 to look all around.

 

 

The reef was outrageously beautiful though.

We did the same on our honeymoon. However, we came across 3 large nurse sharks that swam within 25 yards of us. I about poo'd myself.
