Whas-11 news just reported that the girl was near the second sandbar. She received 120 stitches.

 

I could swear I read in the C-J story this morning that it was 80 stitches, but really, is there that much difference between 80 and 120? It's like the difference between $8 million and $12 million.

 

What I did think was very cool is that the shark let go of her after she had the good sense to repeatedly punch the shark until it gave up on what it thought was an easy meal. Kid was from Atherton HS, down there with her softball team on their Spring Break trip.

I'm not a golfer, but I have friends who play there regularly, and see him quite often.

120 stitches is what WHAS reported. Who knows. They also said when the shark attacked it picked the girl up off her feet. I've never been able to stand on the second sandbar at the section of beach where we stay. I have to question whether she was actually on the second bar. Wherever she was it was the wrong place at the wrong time.

Never swim near a person fishing from the beach.

 

Been to New Smyrna Beach a couple of times--shark bite capital of the U.S. A reporter asked me if I was going to stay out of the water due to the shark bite the previous day. I told him I was all the way from KY and hadn't seen the ocean in years so, no, a shark bite the day before wasn't gonna keep me out of the water. It didn't.
