Girls state tournament bracket

I would think Thursday night with Simon Kenton and Holmes playing should have a decent crowd. SK will draw well and hopefully 9th region fans will come out and support Holmes.

The draw is random but the game times are not. Set up to have the 8th and 9th regions play at night and draw a bigger crowd.

Interesting. I wonder what that afternoon crowd is going to look like? I could argue it is better to have the 8th and 9th play in different sessions to get more people to each session.

I'll be doing updates for all the games again this year.

If you make to BB&T Arena come on by a say hi, I'm not hard to spot......BGP wear and I always hide my bald head with an NC (NewCath) hat.

You forgot to add that you will have food and drink in front of you as well....always eating..lol

Holmes had a pretty small contingent last year if I remember correctly.

I do expect SK to bring a bunch.

In response to seeding: There's no way the KHSAA is ever switching it (and they probably shouldn't). Just not a fair way to do it.

I can see a SK vs Holmes in the semi's. If one of them could win the state, they would be the only NKY team with a boys' and girls' state championship.

Hey, typing these updates burns a lot of energy that needs to be replaced. :lol2:

In addition to the above, I believe Maddie Meiers dad played on that state team. If SK could pull it off, it would be one heck of a family memory!

You are correct. Billy Meier was a starter on SK's 1981 state championship team.

There are only 3 NKY boys teams that have won a state championship and 1 of them is all boys. Holy Cross 2 years ago was the first NKY girls team to win a state championship. Not a lot of history for NKY in the state championships for basketball.

Crowds for Cooper v Holmes were disappointing yesterday in the Regional Finals. Girls games are definitely different than boys, but no less entertaining, IMO.

Cooper had a student section of about 20-(probably the boys team) and Holmes had no student section---sad.

Hope area schools show some school pride this week and step up their support.

Will the games be broadcast on TV, Radio, or internet? If so where?

Sacred Heart bringing up students on buses for $15 including ticket and excused absence. I think they will have big numbers for the noon game on Wednesday.
