Grant County 64 Trimble County 53 8th Region first round

Featured Replies

The senior award is the KABC POY that is handed out at the state tourney, and it has to go to a senior, they then are nominated for Miss Basketball.

The 8th region, as do others, have their own all region team comprised of players. This the POY that everyone is upset with. My only gripe with that list was Varney, easily top 3-5 player in the region, and did not make the list. But I think I have to agree with Pioneer Pride, not a lot of people saw her play.

My understanding is that only seniors are awarded this honor and Clifford deserves the honor. Niece will be eligible next year if coaches want to vote for her then.

Niece won it last year.

Kaylee Clifford is a very good player, and even a better person. She is very deserving of the 8th region player of the year and has the stats to prove it.

The Shame, Shame, Shame should be on the person trying to run her accomplishment down. Calling it "politics" and how the 8th region coaches should be ashamed. To try to discredit a young ladies accomplishment that she has worked years to get. Just because your player did not get the award there is no need to get your feathers ruffled and try to put shame on everyone else. That's the real shame here. Sad really.

Niece won it last year.

These are seniors only. You may be talking about the award she was given by Northern Kentucky Coaches which is given by Divisions to Boone, Kenton, and Campbell schools. I believe she has won that award for Division I schools at least 2 years in a row.

Let's keep the discussion to the Grant County / Trimble County game. Thanks.

Do you realize the 8th region coaches are the laughing stock of Kentucky for this.

I live here and I have not laughed once. I bet that of the other 15 regions, maybe one or two coaches find it humorous. Probably almost 99% of all coaches outside the 8th region have absolutely no opinion. Probably 100% of fans outside the 8th region and maybe 80% of fans within the 8th region really do not care.

Its not that important outside of a small pocket of the state.

I would bet you a dollar that over half the basketball fans east of I-75 do not know where trimble county even is and over 80% could not even name one trimble county player without looking at their KHSAA App

Those two percentages may even be in the upper 90s.

I won't engage in the POY battle. I think the real shame is this a thread about a tremendous win for the Grant Co. Lady Braves and people have made it a political discussion. Congrats Lady Braves! Congrats Abby West, Bry Ezell, Madison Ruebusch, and Coach West. Good luck against Owen Co. And congrats on winning a regional game for the first time in 24 years. You guys have earned my respect.

So i opened this thread to read about the game and someone hijacked it! What are the details of the game?

@coach14 Hijacked threads get more activity then threads that are just about game details.

Unfortunately that is very true!
