All 8th Region Team

Featured Replies

I would say the stats on Spencer's team are more spread out, because they go ten players deep. That probably hurt Wheeler ,Coke, and Cannon. The good thing is that when teams have to play Spencer they can't focus on one or two particular players. Those boys don't care about winning individual awards they just want to win and get to the region.

I think this is a good point. Collins has 4 starters averaging in double figures. I think it's difficult to compare stats because of the relative strength of teams. If Turner, for example, played on a much weaker team, he would average a lot more points and rebounds because he would have to. I have no idea if the selections make sense or not, because I have not seen all of them play. I just accept that it's judgement and will never be perfect.

Kelch is definitely a a good player in the 8th region. Prob in top 15 and should be on list. We will get to see who really is better between Miles/Clinkenberd and Kelch/Hawkins come Tuesday night WV vs SK. I think the difference will be Kelch over Miles.

8th region teams not represented with an All region player:

Henry

Owen

Carroll

Grant

Trimble

Spencer

Shelby

A little shocked Henry's best player (Hinkle) not in top 15 of region?

I'll tell you what's crazy is that three of these six teams won't even be playing in the regional tournament:

Anderson, South Oldham, Spencer, North Oldham, Simon Kenton, and Walton Verona.

You are wrong, either SK or WV will be in regionals. They win one game in district and make it to regionals as either winner or loser.

The comment from Cardsrule1972 is correct.

With the first round district matchups being Anderson Co v Spencer Co, SO v NO, and SK v WV; three of these six teams won't make it to the regionals.

Thanks Yellowcard--you beat me to it.

I'd also like to see Christian Gritton of Anderson get some recognition but the list is a fine list of ballplayers. Congrats to them all.

There are 15 names on the list, as there were on the the girls' list, with the POY at the top and the players from the same school not necessarily listed together or in alphabetical order by name or school. It stands, then, to reason that makes the top five the 1st team, 6-10 2nd team, 11-15 3rd team. Can anyone confirm or reject this thought?

Well I stand corrected. Miles was the better player tonight. Kelch didn't do much til late. Congrats to WV over SK

Comparison of stats:

Pts. Rebs.

WV. Miles: 12 6

Clinkenbeard: 11.2 3.3

OLD. Gibson: 12.6 3.3

Jones: 13.5 2.8

Larimore: 13 6.8

COL. Turner: 11.5 6.5

SK: Kelch: 12.8 7.5

65.6% fg shooting

Why are you lumping Oldham's Gibson in this list? He's a 5'11" point guard, not a big man. Ditto for Ismail Jones of Oldham, also a 5'11" guard.

Kelch is the most unimpressive 6'8" I've seen. Some of it is his fault, some due to lack of touches and horrid post entry passing.
