Has anyone thought of where we will be 5 years down the road with this media issue? Nobody trusts them now and they are pretty much all agenda driven. Its like watching a DNC commericial. They suck and when your approval rating falls below congress then you know its bad. The media is not one entity. That's what makes it possible to find the truth, though you have to work for it. February 18, 20179 yr A free and open media is crucial to our democracy. Before speaking of the media needing "silenced," do we want to be like North Korea and China? That's not to say that "the media" shouldn't give us better products. It's up to us to shop around. Free and open is one thing, totally free from criticism is another.

But like walking into a theater and yelling bomb and it being a lie, there is a great % of these guys operating with a agenda and they need silenced somehow. Putin has some great tactics for silencing his critics in the media. Maybe the President should look to that way of silencing the slant.

Trump uses "FAKE NEWS" to describe any stories that aren't flattering toward him. Flynn talking sanctions with the Russians and being forced to resign? Fake news. Trump indicated at the press conference the other day he wants "simple" and "easy" questions from reporters, which appear to be questions like "what are you doing next?" and "how unfair has the media been to you?" If that is "real news" then I'm afraid I don't want it. There's always been criticism of the media in this country and that's not going away. I analogized in another thread that this is like working the refs in a basketball game. Coaches are going to lay into the refs and hope it gets them a better call down the stretch or fire up the team. Trump is saying "we'll call our own fouls." And here's the problem with that. If the media's "real" job is merely to report what politicians say and not to ask questions or dig for what's actually going on, then they're nothing more that propagandists for hire. What's the difference between "real news" in that context and state media? News that questions Trump is fake. War is peace. We've always been at war with Eastasia.

Americans have to be willing to go out and find truth from more than one source. Truth will not come from Trump's mouth; he's already proven that. Nailed it.
