Youth Hockey team wins 42-0

Featured Replies

So this was a national select team right? The best kids in the nation were picked? Whats the issue?

Why would Turkey be playing Russia in a hockey tournament? Even at the men's senior level, the World Championships are divided up into Divisions that have promotion and relegation between them. Hockey is just so regional and so stratified in terms of development that it seems really strange to have those teams play each other.

Pathetic. Turkey should have started a brawl after 10-0

It was a Euro Tourney, hosted by Turkey.

Meh. I don't have as much of a problem with teams at the national level getting beat like this in world events. It's not like the national Russian team was playing a group of kids from Florence who play in some hockey rec league over in Cincy. It was the Turkish national team. Obviously they aren't very good, comparatively, and actually rank behind N. Korea on the national ranking power scale (per the video). That's bad. I'd also guess that everyone was expecting this sort of outcome, and the Russian team and coaches probably just wanted to get the game over with as they don't get much if anything from a game like this either.

Now, me personally if I'm coaching my subs/3rd shift/bench players, however they do it in hockey, plays out the 3rd period (which they may have done I don't know). And if Turkey is just that bad, then the are just that bad, thus the final score.

Olex Avechkin led the Russians with 32 goals and eight assists. He looked to be in a different league than the rest of these kids.

I'm picturing that commercial of Cam Newton playing peewee football but with a grown man up and down the ice just TRUCKING over little kids. :lol2:

One kid had 32 of the goals? That might just change my original comment a little bit. If he's that individually dominant then he's definitely not getting anything out of that game. I don't think I leave him out there long enough to see that kind of goal count.

Just a play on Washington Capitals superstar, Alex Ovechkin's name, and reference to Russia's shady dealings.

Dammit, too slow again!
