Wow!!! Let me be the first to say I was completely wrong, and I am ready to take whatever you all have to say...

Congrats to Holy Cross on a GREAT WIN!!!

I'll be the first one to say that I never saw this one happening.

I've tried to tell some folks (HSSRB, are you listening?) that HC has a very talented SR class this year and they were a LOCK for one of the top 3 playoff spots. Big line, good qb, good big play receiver, good back.

Congrats to Koz and the boys.

Holy Cross hung around enough to let NCC self-destruct and won a key district game.

NCC took a 7-0 lead following a 2 yard Holy Cross punt to the 22 yard line.

Holy Cross tallied a FG to make it 7-3 and then the game got beyond sloppy and more like just bad football.

NCC fumbled on first and goal from the 2. Holy Cross kept booming 10-15 yard punts. Both offenses could not move the ball for any sustained drives.

Holy Cross got stupid and greedy and threw an INT with less than a minute left in the half. NCC returned the ball to the 20 where they threw the first of two interceptions into the Holy Cross endzone. This one was juggled by the wide open receiver at about the 2 and went right into HC's hands.

So NCC led 7-3 at the half. NCC took the second half kickoff and in a typical play Vickars was tackled by his own player at the 15. From there HC pretty much dominated the play as NCC couldn't move the ball. The NCC defense actually held Holy Cross from first and goal at the 2. After being stopped at the one it was Holy Cross' turn to be stupid and Penny took his helmet off resulting in the Breds getting the ball at the 16 instead of the 1.

It wouldn't matter ultimately because NCC did not have the right secondary personal on the field when Holy Cross got the ball back and Holy Cross had 2 receivers wide open for a TD pass.

NCC would get the ball back with just over 2 minutes to go and had a 70 TD called back for a block in the back at the 35. They then still drove to the Holy Cross 12 yard line where on first down QB Harris threw another INT into the Holy Cross endzone.

NCC had I believe 3 or 4 INTs (2 in the endzone), 1 fumble lost on first and goal from the 2, at least 3 shotgun snaps over the QB's head, 2 personal fouls, at least 3 false starts, a running into the kicker, and the big block in the back penalty on the TD in the fourth quarter.

Holy Cross had at least 2 personal fouls and the unsportsman-like penalty for removing the helmet, a stupid INT at the end of the first half that could have been a disaster, and at least 3 punts that went between 2 and 20 yards.

NCC just absolutely would not go under center and twice started with the ball at the Holy Cross 40 and ended up in their own territory because of penalties or bad snaps. If you can't line up under center and get 10 yards in 4downs it is going to be a long season.

After this weekend we saw that Beechwood isn't all that and a bag of chips this year, but they honestly look to be about 21 points better than both of these teams if they both continue to play this way. And Danville or Bardstown or Mayfield or Somerset this might be your year.

What is going on up on the HILL?????????? WOW!!!!! The Breds just aren't very good.....

WOW! Congrats to Holy Cross! There have been good things going on there for awhile. Looks like the pot is ready to boil!

Don't knock on the Breds. Perhaps there is a new dog in the house. Great competition is always welcome!

Color me surprised.

Big wins for the Indians.

The defense isn't actually playing that badly considering the offense has been so inept.

On offense it looks to be a case of trying to fit a round offense into a square hole. The no huddle/shotgun offense was perfect last year for a mobile, quick QB who could make mutiple reads to speedy sure handed receivers and make the correct choice or pull the ball down and outrun the defense.

Now they have a bigger not as fast QB who has thrown multiple INTS in every game.

IMO time to try something else. Go under center, use a fullback, use two runningbacks, throw to the Tight end, play for field position, simplify things.

Trust me Holy Cross is good, but they are nowhere near a Top 5 state Class A team. See the Simon Kenton score who was then throttled by a winless Boone Co team. Not a Top 5 NKY team as Highlands, CovCath, Ryle, SK, Boone, Beechwood at least are all better.

Granted it is might be a slightly down year in NKY Class A this year, but there is no reason for the defending state champions with virtually all their O and D line returning to make this many mistakes.

Now they have a bigger not as fast QB who has thrown multiple INTS in every game.

Easy now, APNW. I'm sure Coach Schneider will tell you that one player didn't lose this game.

Curious question for the NCC faithful. Jared Harris was one of the most heralded QB's I've ever heard about coming into high school; with many even suggesting he would start as a frosh over Sam Diehl. Having been around him for years, I also thought he was one of those can't miss types. However, he sat and sat behind Diehl and since they had no viable backup, wasn't even playing much "D" or any JV QB. Did the inactivity, and not getting much action, even in the many NCC blowouts; create the problems he's having this year, now that he's finally the man?? In hindsight, would the program have been better served if he'd been given the opportunity to play more the last three years, even if it meant winning by 20 instead of 40?? I'm a fan of Jared's and hate to see him struggling, and can't help but wonder if he's been brought along properly throughout his career??

IMO the coaching staff has to re-think the whole offense. Bottom line is they are now well into double-digits INTs for the year and you are correct that is not all on one player. But as a coaching staff if you continue to put your offense in those situations, then even more INTs will follow.

Whether up 7-3 or down 10-7 why be in the shotgun (where you have had no success all night) when you have the ball first and ten on the oppositions 40 yard line?
