No excuses for the violent ones, but they are presently the resistance, the right at present wouldn't logically have reason to be violent.

 

I can't say for sure, but judging by "some" of their temperament during the campaign if things had gone the other way there very well could've been examples of violent reactions too, and I don't think it's too far fetched to think so.

 

But there again if there was would you be comfortable with their actions representing you and mass others on the right as being the mentality of the whole?

I do not recall a single conservative rally in DC that has turned violent. It is ludicrous to think that if Hillary had won that conservatives would have rioted and trashed the National Mall the way that anti-Trump protesters did last week. Liberals have a very long history of "peaceful" protests turning violent.

Since there has been no black Republican president elected, none have won a national election. Tim Scott won his U.S. Senate seat in a landslide and by a larger majority than Lindsey Graham, SC's senior Senator, won his seat.

 

I don't think a black republican will win a national election. I could be wrong. Maybe one day we'll find out. As of today I think it is highly doubtful.

How you waste your time is none of my concern. What you will not find is an example of violent protests on or near the National Mall on the scale that we witnessed on Friday and Saturday perpetrated by any Republican or conservative group.

 

Suggesting that Trump supporters would have behaved as badly as Hillary's losers, when there is no historical precedent for such behavior is ridiculous. What happens in DC is local news for me, and I know who is responsible for most of the politically inspired violence in DC.

We didn't see anything like this or anything near this from the right when Obama won. There were no riots or mass meltdowns, no mass protests. How can you say we would have this time with the right being painted so racist when it didn't happen with Obama? The media pushed that garbage bout it happening if Trump lost, I remember hearing it. Did you actually buy into it? We know what's happened because Trump won. It hasn't been pretty, or mature. Anything about how the right would have reacted is just biased opinion vs reality of what we saw when Obama won. My opinion is it would have been a similar reaction from the right when Obama won had Trump lost.

This is where I'm at on this. We've witnessed with Bush and Trump that the left doesn't handle losing very well.

Agreed. I don't think they would get 20-25%. They'd either be accepted by the majority or not. If accepted they'd win by a landslide. I think it will be a long long time before a black person wins the office of president regardless of whether they are a republican or democrat. At least 20-30 years away.

I watched the Womens march yesterday and the Black woman Senator from California seems to be riding a good wave politically. I use to think Booker was the next Democrat nominee but after yesterday and following the media I think she may be the one.

IMO, Booker screwed up royally when he became the first U.S. Senator in history to testify against a fellow Senator when he went after Jeff Sessions. IMO, Booker is much more articulate than Obama is off-prompter, but his best path to success would have been to run to Obama's right. White Republican moderates and independents will not be fooled as easily after 8 years of Obama. A move toward the center during the 2020 general election will be a hard sale for Booker now.

See it how you'd like, but the examples of protesters turned violent is not a large representation of those who protest peacefully, or those who don't approve of Trump but don't protest at all. To say that it is is painting the left broadly.

These examples would be videos of them speaking it out loud without need for media interpretation or slant.

 

And you can't compare the reaction or lack there of to Obama to the reaction of Trump. Other than being black (for some), what was so polarizing, controversial or unusual about him that could logically warrant such hostile response?

 

I honestly don't know what to say if you can't see for yourself that this is not normal circumstances and that Trump is not your ordinary president.

 

To continue to keep making these comparisons as if they can be made, or make logical sense just has me shaking my head thinking that there's a big disconnect happening that many can't see within their own view.

I love this post for a lot of reasons. I agree with every word too. Except for the articulate part. Stings a little but it is just reality.
