please explain.

please explain.

Some English singer-songwriter named Russ Ballard wrote it, and it was a top 10 hit in England and Germany for a '70s glam band named Hello.

The original is not terrible, per se, but Ace Frehley's version adds the funkier guitar licks and more expressive vocals, as well as the driving hand-clap-coupled-with-the-drum-beat that's just not there in the original.

The original version has no soul to it. Kinda like how the album version of Cheap Trick's "I Want You To Want Me" is a skeleton compared to the live version.

Originally coming to prominence as the lead singer and guitarist for the band Argent, Ballard became known by the late 1970s as a songwriter and producer. His compositions "New York Groove", "You Can Do Magic", "Since You Been Gone", "Winning", "I Know There's Something Going On", "So You Win Again" and "God Gave Rock and Roll to You" were hits for other artists during the 1970s and 80s. He also scored several minor hits under his own name in the early/mid-1980s.

First time that I ever heard of Russ Ballard was around '84 with his tune "Voices".

Didn't realize until now that he was the same dude that was the voice of Argent.

True, but those mentioned I would think everyone knows.

I'm not a big fan of the video, but I love the cover.

You just totally proved my point. The only thing anybody knows Rod Argent for is "Hold Your Head Up High."

Never heard of him until today.

Gretchen Wilson and AIC performing "Barracuda". I would never dreamed that one would be so good.
