It's a bad look on everybody involved. Garrison wanted to leave the team, and was granted that request. That should be the end of the story as far as basketball is concerned. With the things posted on social media? Like others have said, we all made mistakes at that age...and some continue to do so. Hopefully a lesson will be learned from all this for all parties.

Not really bashing, just criticizing. If he isn't criticizing he will continue to think it's ok. And I dont follow. They were sent to me.

Personally, I wish the young man would reconsider his decision and humbly ask to return to the team (assuming this is possible as to school and/or team policy)Make the apology to his Coaches and teammates and move forward. A kid this young makes mistakes but you never want to look back and say I should have handled this differently and the school, if possible, should allow him to correct a clearly juvenile mistake. All kids should be made to understand "beware social media"!

Can't say that I don't agree. My issue is that I could say things that other players have done, have said and on and on and on but lucky for them, I'm not that person just wish others were that decent too because I could say a whole lot of ugly things that have been done and said to this child but I am truly trying my best not too but if people want to continue I promise....I will.

Sure hope the young man can eat a little humble pie and recover from these youthful mistakes. Probably got more people rooting for him to succeed than he knows or suspects. The tweets are what stood out to me. Clearly he doesn't care, as it out there for everyone to see. Hopefully he can learn from that. I haven't seen or cared to check any tweets since then so who knows.

Been mentioned multiple times on BGP how social media can be the undoing of a player, a team, a coach in trying to handle the stupid posting that can happen, and even an administration. Seems like many college programs are forbidding in-season posting by players for the risks that can go from the mind-to the fingers-to the world to read. Youthful mistakes have been committed by probably all of us to one extent or the other. Most of us were fortunate that the footprints left weren't so deep, nor seen by so many.

 

Cannot imagine a coach having this additional problem to manage. I understand why many leave the profession. Is it possible for a high school coach to gain both parent and administration support to forbid social posting during season by his team?

CovCath bans players from being on twitter all basketball season. There was a thread on here saying how is that fair. Well, it's a privilege, not a right to play basketball for a program like CovCath. And you will follow their rules like them or not.
