But how many reasonable people disagree with absolutely every single thing AHA brings to the table? Wholesale repeal without any replacement is criminally reprehensible. But now your guy Yarmuth and the Dems have promised to fight anything the majority proposes. On Meiners show yesterday Yarmuth flatly stated that the only thing he would vote for is single payer, and since he's so closely aligned with Nancy Pelossi I'll wager that's the stance of most Dems. I really believe that is what they had planned had Hillary won. Dems would allow no debate or input from Reps when it passed and now they're on the record saying they'll fight any changes the Republicans propose. But I know, the Republicans fought everything the Dems tried to do so now it's time for payback.

 

Let me have my old plan with my old premiums, deductables and co-pays back, just like Obama promised me I could. It worked for me, it was appropriate for my situation. As it stands I have to be out over 5K out of pocket before my plan pays anything.

I think it'll be interesting 15-20 years from now (I think you have to allow a minimum of a decade to pass before truly judging a Presidency) to see how history views his tenure.

I have a hard time wrapping my head around the words you've written about President Obama, and your support of President Elect Trump.

 

I have mixed feelings on Trump RM. I think he could be a great president and he could also be a complete train wreck. There are things I really like about him and things I really do not like. What he has done to get elected impresses the heck out of me. He had the Dems, the R's, the media, academia, and many in the business world HATE him. He has never been a politician in his life and he had the stones to (1) think he could actually beat 16 other R's in the primaries and then the chosen Dem, HRC in the general election and (2) then work harder than any candidate in my lifetime to do so. If you think about it, it is the most incredible accomplishment in the last 100 or more years in politics. I LOVE most of his cabinet selections (not sure about Tillerson) and I really think he (again) has the stones to actually do most of what he said he would do (unlike most politicians on both sides). We will see.

 

Now I don't like the bad things he has said regarding women...not good at all. I am wary of the whole Putin thing but will not judge him until I see him as president dealing with him. I do get a kick out of the Dems all of a sudden hating Putin so much when Obama, HRC and Kerry have done NOTHING to stop him at all the past 8 years...but NOW he is the number one enemy of the US...smh...

 

I am just willing to give Trump a chance and believe he could not be worse than HRC, who I fully admit I DESPISE as a person and politician.

I can respect, though not understand or agree, that you dislike both Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama. I can respect, though not understand or agree, that you like Donald Trump. What I cannot understand, agree with or respect is you disliking anyone for their "arrogance" and supporting Donald Trump, probably one of the most arrogant people of any race, gender, creed or nationality.

 

I hope PE Trump succeeds, because that is good for the US. I can't even say I dislike his policies because I have no idea what those will be (and I suspect he hasn't figured it out yet). I am highly skeptical that he will lead us in a positive direction. But, I'm open to being proven wrong. I'm not even going to lie and pretend policy is what I dislike about him. I'm just going to be 100% honest, because that's how I like to be. I loathe him with every fiber in my being. I have absolutely no respect for him. Even if he succeeds as our President, that will not change.

As with a lot of things - some will like it, some won't. What I find a problem is the methods for some things. ACA was shooved through without a single R vote.But then it was not followed. The administration changed, delayed and ignored parts of this landmark legislation - all lawless and illegal. The administration ignored the law to create illegal amnesty for illegal aliens. This administration illegally ran guns into Mexico in the apparent hope to create anti-gun sentiment. Dozens or hundreds of Mexican citizens have been murdered with these guns. 'Collateral damage' maybe in this odd effort to grab guns. This administration overthrew foreign leaders, fairly openly and yes, illegally.

 

Lots of administrations have skirted laws and rules but usually they were not blatant about their efforts to avoid the limits that a republic must put on its government. Maybe this one just did it more blatantly and in the open. But it does diminish 'the office' and it opens the door to other administrations - including this incoming one- to do similar things and treat the office like a limitless monarchy, that its not, rather than an office of a democratic republic authorized by the people.

I respect your opinion RM, I really do. I understand why people don't like Trump, especially women. He will have a tough time because SO many powerbrokers in Washington feel like you - they loathe him. He has enough confidence/arrogance to possibly overcome all that...but he still may fail. When you have thousands of press trying to find anything to take you down every second of every day, almost anyone would have a tough time with that. We will see and it will be fun to watch:)!

As we move farther from the Obama presidency, his already high approval ratings will only go up. He will end up ranked among the near great presidents. If you want to include me as one of his "minions" or any other pejorative you wish to use, feel free. Proud to be included.

 

I think the opposite will occur. He may get a bump in the years immediately following his leaving office but I beleve as the decades pass and history is reviewed in broader and more extensive study Obama's two terms will be seen as a very ineffective and failed. The writer from the Boston Globe couldn't have explained it any better.

From a governing standpoint he was all I feared--Inexperienced, and too egotistical to surround himself with those of opposing thought. Hate Trump all you want, but I'll give him credit so far; he's nominated folks who are at least allowed to disagree with him or bring opposing views on issues for his Cabinet.

 

My biggest disappointment in Obama's tenure still remains what I consider one of the biggest missed opportunities in US history--The opportunity to unite the racial & political divides in this country; and promote the example of his life story to those vulnerable youth in the minority community.

 

As the first African American President, and a man who'd overcome a single parent upbringing with sometimes little help from his Mother; to ascend to the heights that he did, was a remarkable achievement & a testament to the opportunity this country can offer.

 

The fact that he chose to use that opportunity to further divide us into sub-groups of Americans in search of votes; and not shout from the rooftops to those entombed in the inner cities & shackles of poverty to follow his lead & not the gospel of the gangs & rap music themes is a tragic mistake IMO. Shame on him!!

 

I'm sure these are not the thoughts of all on here, and that's OK. While I didn't support him when elected, I was still hopeful that I might be wrong & he might actually be transformational--Unfortunately he was just another shallow politician masquerading as a change agent. :(
