KHSAA to discuss seeded 15th super-regional tournament

Featured Replies

If anything blind draw seeding in district tournaments needs to be done away with and and all districts should seed based on regular season results.

Agree 100%. For those that favor a blind draw, I've always said the only way that becomes "fair" is to have ONLY the district winner advance to the region. That way it doesn't matter as much if two powerhouses meet in the semi-finals or the finals...one of them is going to have to beat the other one sometime. But there's less than a snowball's chance of that ever happening because it'd eliminate half the teams/games at the region, and there's no way somebody's willing to pass up that money.

Seeding based on computers is a joke.

Belfry has beaten Lawrence pretty soundly and they are 6 spots below them in the bracket above?

Some of the schedules in the 15th.........garbage but those coaches get to say they've won 18-20 games and their team is "good".

Either start shifting teams east(Jenkins, Letcher Central) or do away with districts in the entire state.

The experiment they did in the 15th a few years ago was awful.

That's the Bluegrasspreps Rankings....

They are awful too then.

Go watch games. You can't rank based on looking at scores.

As long as there are 256 teams in Kentucky, then there should be four teams in each district. This change doesn't make any sense.

Agree 100%.

Exactly. If anything blind draw seeding in district tournaments needs to be done away with and and all districts should seed based on regular season results. The basketball postseason is close to perfect in my opinion. Changing things up isn't something that is appealing to me. Leave it as it is. More often than not the same results will happen whether you have 16 teams in the region tournament or not. The journey to making the region tournament is what makes the regular season and district tournaments so exciting. Letting everyone in the region tournament cheapens the experience IMO.

Completely agree. You would also lose those district rivals. Those are some of the best games in the region each year.

KHSAA is once again proving how corrupt they are and 15th is proving how willing they are to accept the corruption.

Quick glance shows me we have 2 15 team regions out west and some 18, 19, and 20 regions in central part of state.

Either start moving teams east and west or do away with districts completely.

Don't give me the geography and tradition bull crap either. KHSAA proved that means NOTHING with the movement of Lawrence last two times.

When McCracken consolidated the KHSAA proposed this super regional to the principals and ADs of the 1st region. They quickly said NO. They also proposed to just having 2 districts and that was denied as well.

Geography out west is a little tricky due to a limited number of schools, although I do think it is something that could (and should) be fixed.

With this every single regular season games matters...

Let's just let every team in the state play in Rupp Arena and expand the state tournament to a month.

Just make it a 260-team bracket and play ball.

Only if every single player can get a participation trophy.

With this every single regular season games matters...

No they won't. You'll still have meaningless games and home court will matter and who you have calling your games will matter.

Have you watched a lot of 15th Region basketball? Some of the officials will call 16 different ways depending on home court, county it's played, and head coach.

Not all, but some.

With this every single regular season games matters...

The school I root for plays in a seeded district. Every regular season game does matter for us.
