Are you sure? The only people I can find who finished their career with exactly 237 wins are Clark Griffith and Waite Hoyt.

Any Hall of Fame that doesn't include Bonds and Clemens is a sham. That's the primary reason why I hate baseball.

The baseball writers association is a joke. They still have the dumb thing where no one has gotten in with 100% of the vote. So when Griffey Jr. and Jeter are eligible they won't get the unanimous vote. Like what kind of moron leaves those 2 guys off their ballot. The baseball HOF is a joke. What do you all think of Manny Ramirez and Sammy Sosa's chances? If they let Bonds and Clemons in (which they eventually will), will that sort of break the glass ceiling for those linked to PED's in any way?

I'd have to vote A. I think Bonds is the only player with 500+ homers and 400+ steals. He's 700/500 but no one else has player A's power/speed combo.

So those are made-up stats for fictional players? Without the context of eras and other details, it's tough to call. What if the guy with just 237 wins — falling well-short of the "magic number" of wins pitchers need — was absolutely incredible in the postseason? And what if the guy with all the HRs and steals stank in the postseason?

 

Guys like Jack Morris, Curt Schilling and Mike Mussina get overlooked for the HOF because their seasonal numbers don't hit whatever numerical threshold the voters have in mind, while being discounted for their postseason excellence (when great play matters most).

Yeah. But guys like Bonds and Clemens are the poster boys for it.

The BBWA is certainly a joke. Instead of saying player A will get in next year so we will put player B in this year is stupid. Put Vlad Guerero next to Bagwell and who you got? Vladi all day 10 straight seasons hitting .300 or better, come on man. And this is just one of many examples. Players getting in on their final turn but couldn't get in the previous 9? If he is a HOFer then he's an HOFer. Elect people as they are worthy not bc of politics. You can vote more than three in a year

It's a joke. You can't keep out the best pitcher and best hitter of the modern era. They pretend like 30 years of baseball didn't happen.

Both A&B should be in, but there isn't anyone with player B's stats.

Hoffman, Vlad, Bonds, Edgar, Clemens all have a decent chance at getting in next year.

 

Hoffman and Vlad will no doubt make it. Add Chipper, who's a no doubt 1st-ballot guy, and Jim Thome, who should be the same, and we could be looking at a very big class.
