Lincoln County at Whitley County

Featured Replies

They ,(WC), are not SL good, nor are they near being Madison Central good. Lincoln Co. Becomes a must win for that reason alone.

I think WC knows it is a huge game for them and if they can stop the double headed monster that Lincoln has they will win! IF not... Watch out!

LC-28

WC-13

could be a huge factor for the Patriots. If they can build on last weeks emotional win, it could spell trouble for Whitley. If they try to rest on last weeks laurels...it could spell trouble for Lincoln. Here's hoping Coach French and his staff have them in the right frame of mind.

Lincoln--28

Whitley--12

I have never understood how that Lincoln team lost to both Whitley and Garrard County that year.

.....by a total of 4 points and then beat Boyle County 31-15. That was a strange team. Very talented but 4 close losses and no playoff appearance.

The game being at Whitley will make it closer than it should be. Lincoln still wins it 21-19.

Whitley can play with any team in there dist, you might be forgetting how good the Colonels are. Right now at GRC, we got players out, I'm glad were not playing Lincoln, or Whitley.;)

Who is out besides McGraffery??

Whitley is hurting. With 4 or 5 top skill players out. I hope Im wrong but I will say Lincoln Co. will roll by 50 plus points.

How are the Patriots, injury-wise, for this game?

I was told today that the Lincoln Co QB will not play on Friday because of a concussion he received late in the game against Rockcastle Co. The hit occurred late and he finished the game. It happened in a couple of series before the game ended.

That's why I felt their losses were strange because they played a perfect game against a good Boyle team that year. I wonder if that disappointment helped focus the first undefeated Lincoln team the next year?

Sounds like some sandbagging on Whitley's part. I thought they were as healthy as they had been all year.

We had a good Senior class but the Juniors and Sophomores really stepped up the next year with the undefeated regular season.:thumb: Record-wise, 1980 was the worst season for Coach Snooky Wooldridge.

1979 10-2 (lost to Highlands in Regional Finals)

1980 7-4 (didn't make the playoffs)

1981 12-1 (lost to Highlands in Regional Finals)

1982 9-2 (Lost to Cawood and David Hensley in District Finals)

Wooldridge was 38-9 in four seasons and made the playoffs three of the four years. The coaching was good but we had an unbelieveable run of talent during that time. Some of those players' kids are coming of high school age now and maybe we will see a repeat of that talent.
