STANFORD - Larry French wouldn't call Lincoln County's victory over Rockcastle County last Friday a signature win for his program.

But the Patriots head coach would not downplay how big it was for the team's confidence as the Patriots begin AAA district play this week at Whitley County. Lincoln (2-1) is the highest ranked team in the Class AAAA's Region 4, District 8 at No. 15.

"I just know we've got a tough schedule ahead. I don't think there's anybody on our schedule we don't think we can't beat. But at the same time, everybody on our schedule can beat us if we don't come to play," French said.

Isn`t Madison Central in district-8?

We had a good Senior class but the Juniors and Sophomores really stepped up the next year with the undefeated regular season.:thumb: Record-wise, 1980 was the worst season for Coach Snooky Wooldridge.

1979 10-2 (lost to Highlands in Regional Finals)

1980 7-4 (didn't make the playoffs)

1981 12-1 (lost to Highlands in Regional Finals)

1982 9-2 (Lost to Cawood and David Hensley in District Finals)

Wooldridge was 38-9 in four seasons and made the playoffs three of the four years. The coaching was good but we had an unbelieveable run of talent during that time. Some of those players' kids are coming of high school age now and maybe we will see a repeat of that talent.

Snooky was a good coach.... didn`t Bill Ed coach in 79`?

He was also a good teacher and is a great person. I still always remembering him calling me by my last name in P.E. class

I was told today that the Lincoln Co QB will not play on Friday because of a concussion he received late in the game against Rockcastle Co. The hit occurred late and he finished the game. It happened in a couple of series before the game ended.

Actually Soph. Tre Edwards took the snaps at the end of the game when Rogers was knocked out. This could be a huge loss, the soph. Edwards has very little experience. Junior Denson took several snaps last year. I would feel better with him under center.

I can answer that one, nope. Wooldridge was coach of that team. It was a very talented crew that went 10-1 in the regular season. Guess who there only regular season loss was to? :D

No. Bill Ed Leedy coached 5 seasons from 1974-1978. A true gentleman and one heckuva great guy!!

The same team that was the only regular season loss in 1982, too! Those darn Rebels.:madman:

Class AAAA, Region 4, District 8 (in alphabetical order):

George Rogers Clark

Lincoln County

Madison Central

Montgomery County

North Laurel

South Laurel

Whitley County

Also heard they put Calhoun at QB and were running more of the WV spread option out of the gun. That could be dangerous.

Very dangerous indeed, guess we will see tom.

This will be a heck of a football game. I think Whitley comes in a little underated, but that may play into their hands. Playing at home will help but i do not know if that is enough. They must not give up the big play and fall behind early. This is a huge game for both teams. A win and the season looks bright but a loss and things in district look dim.

Some could say Lincoln is also still being somewhat underated.

Whitley County's opponents:

Rec. PF PA

Bell County 2-1 95 55

North Hardin 2-2 71 52

Shelby Co 2-1 103 92

Lynn Camp 1-3 96 151

total7-7 365 350

Lincoln County's opponents

P.R.P. 4-0 108 43

Garrard Co 1-3 25 142

Rockcastle 3-1 95 55

Total 8-4 228 240

Just at a glance, it would appear that L.C.'s opponents have been less offensive and more defense than Whitley's.

I would say that Bell and Rock are good for comparision. Rock got beat by Lincoln while Whitley fell to Belll in a close game. P.R.P. would be equal to North or Shelby, which both teams lost to. Both teams beat an undersized and undermanned team which they should have beaten badly.

What does all this mean? Heck if I know, but Whitley is tough at home and Lincoln has a bad taste in their mouths after last years game.

Whitley County 24

Lincoln County 22

At least that is my guess although it kind of looks like a prediction, but I am no Edgar Casey.
