Who was better, Elder or Lou. St X ??????

Featured Replies

After watching HHS play both , I believe that St X was the better team . They had a more balanced attack. I'd just like to hear some other opinion's.

St. X was better because they had more speed in the backfield and their QB was more accurate. Take away the mistakes the Birds made in the Elder game and they win that game by a touchdown or two.

That's a tough call to make. X had better speed in the backfield no doubt and their QB threw the ball better. But Elder's d line was better. We had the benefit of playing Elder on our home field in the first of the two games. X of course was not at home and our players were beat up going into the X game from playing Elder the week before. Plus against X we were missing one of our starting defensive ends who is quick enough to maybe have contained some of the sweeps. Certainly he would have given us some depth at the defensive end position which would have helped in the second half. If forced to make a choice, I'd say X was better, but not by as much as some may think.

Lou St. Xavier is leaps and bounds better than Elder, IMO.

Elder vs. Lou St. X would pit Elders strength (defense) against Lou St X's strength (offense). I normally side with the defensive team in these encounters, but I am going to say even. Elders special teams are slightly better. It would come down to Elders offense against St. X's defense. On a neutral field I would give the edge to Lou st. X but by no more than 3 points. I doubt that either team is leaps and bounds better than the other team. Elder plays California De lasalle this weekend so I might change the St. X being 3 points better after this weekend.

Pretty bold statement. Have you seen Elder this season?

Or is he pumping the Tigers up for a 'little game' to be played later in the month :D

I've seen Elder twice, and they are not efficient. They are big and skilled, especially on defense, but they tend to take plays off. You and I both know that St. Xavier doesn't practice that tactic. X is better.

I would like to see in one in the region take on Indianapolis Warren Centeral they are a machine.

I wonder if they will continue to be a "machine" without coach Wright?

I'm not saying that X may be better than Elder this year. X is the #1 team in Kentucky and Elder may not even make the playoffs. I questioned the "leaps and bounds" comment. A team that is "leaps and bounds" better should blow-out their opponent, do you see that happening in an X/Elder match-up?

If Highlands was "beat up" they sure did not play like it. I was also not aware of any injuries that Highlands suffered in the Elder game. Did they come out with out injuries against St. X?

I have not seen Elder so I can not make a first hand comparison. I suspect it would be a close game.

Not necessarily, I think as a unit X is better, hands down than Elder. In a matchup, I think that X would win something like 28 - 13. A methodical beating if you would.
