I think the question is was the original 1 year suspension punishment enough. Forget the video, that changes nothing. Do you need a video to know he hit her, knocked her out, fractured her face?

 

So I'll ask again, where was the outrage 2 years ago when this happened? When OU announced the punishment were are the threads calling for Stoops to be fired?

Yes. He entered an Alfred plea. Got community service and not sure what else.

So he was disciplined by the school and by the state? I got no problems then.

 

Don't take this as an excuse for him to hit her because there isn't one, but she needs to learn to not lay her hands on a man either. As we can see from the video, some men don't have the same respect for women that many of you obviously have. She needs to be smarter than that.

It's beyond my comprehension that our culture has gotten to a place where this can happen and a player not be dismissed.

If they redshirted him then that falls on OU and how they chose to handle the situation. They claim he was suspended but in reality he was redshirted. Granted this incident is a highly visible incident now because of the video. Every school in college football would do the same thing in the same circumstances. "Suspend" a kid and then redshirt him so they don't miss out on any of his eligibility.

Mixon claims the girl used a racial slur against him. I know it doesn't matter to most of you but it makes it an intense and charged situation where composure and poise are needed the most. He still shouldn't have hit her and I am fine with his one year "suspension." If they had dismissed him from school I wouldn't oppose that either. FSU dismissed De'Andre Johnson when he was caught on tape hitting a woman for making a racial slur at him. He was just signed by Florida Atlantic University after going through anger management, community service, etc. In that situation I would have been fine with him being "suspended" for a year but I understand why people feel he/they should be dismissed and that feeling doesn't bother me either. I don't blame Oklahoma or FSU for how they handled their situations.

Shocked that the penalties are not already in place for this behavior. Immediate dismissal infractions should be posted in the locker room in large bold type. At the top of the list should be ANY violence towards women.
