The video in the attached link shows Oklahoma player Joe Mixon fracturing a female student's face in 4 places. Stoops, the university President, and the AD all watched the video and kept Mixon on scholarship. The incident occurred in 2014 and the video has just now been released to the public.

 

So should Stoops be fired for this?

We can question his judgment but the school pays him to win. The President the AD could have easily cut Mixon loose (and they should have).

This brings up an interesting scenario. When it comes draft time will this kid get drafted? Ray Rice's career ended when everyone saw the video of him knocking out his girlfriend. How will a team now justify giving this idiot a job?

If I'm Stoops and saw this, first thing I do is call Mixon into my office and make him watch the tape with me. Then we have this conversation.

 

"Joe, if that was my daughter we would not be having this conversation cause I would have taken care of you back then, and you would have been in far worse shape than her."

 

"You don't hit women...period. End of story".

 

"Maybe you will learn from this, and I sure hope you do. Hopefully you see the error of your ways and will never ever strike a woman again. And maybe you will get a second chance...I believe in second chances...but your second chance won't be here. You are dismissed from this program and this school".

 

How this conversation, or one similar to it, doesn't take place I have no idea.

If the girl was a guy it would have been much like the Barker and EKU player incident. Short suspension and public apologies by the universities and that's it.

Looked to me he was following them into the store and was saying "Hey...hey" as he walked up to them. Seems to have been some sort of possible verbal altercation before they got there, that's my guess anyway.

Less of an issue for me for sure...if a guy comes at him and pushes him like she did...first of all it would have probably been harder than she was able to so the first shove is probably more physical, then he might have more of a claim of "self defense". Still though, as a coach I would want to know WHY he followed the people into the store in the first place. I'm thinking he put himself in a situation he didn't have to be in.

He apparently called one of her friends sitting at the table a homosexual slur as he was walking up.

On the surface it looks bad but I need a lot more information about this whole story before I could make any determination.

OMG, he decked her. He is lucky it didnt kill her. He is pathetic to do that. Ive been hit harder than that by girls and never thought once of hitting back.
