December 15, 20169 yr Probably hard to do when you are already doing the same for London teams. You actually kind of prove my point...they already do it for teams traveling to London, so they can absolutely do it for Thursday night matchups too. Sure it adds a layer of difficulty for the schedulers, but it's not like it CAN'T be done. And it probably greatly improves the quality of the football as well. Reduce the preseason, add a second bye week to the regular season, schedule London games and Thursday games to coincide with teams coming off bye weeks.
December 15, 20169 yr The NFL will have to add a second bye week to accommodate London, Mexico City, Thursday night games. Preseason can shrink to two games and combined practice scrimmages and the revenue lost can be made up with the extra regular season week of play. Less games for the players, more rest for the players, no revenue lost for the owners.
December 15, 20169 yr I have not watched a Thursday night game all year. I forgot about it and also have other things to do.
December 15, 20169 yr I was watching NFL Live or something like that yesterday and they suggested adding another bye (2 byes per team, per season) and then only playing Thursday night games coming off a bye week. It would be win-win, Richard could save on TP and we fans would benefit from the season stretching on one more week without adding any games.
December 15, 20169 yr Shut up and entertain me. I hate to be so hardcore like you @lawildcat but I agree. With any working profession there are times when the going gets really tough, and in this case that is when the cream should be rising to the top.
December 16, 20169 yr Shut up and entertain me. Agreed. Each team has to play exactly one Thursday game on short rest. It is not optimal but I think the players can handle it once.
December 16, 20169 yr I would be fine with Thursday night games if the two teams playing in them were coming off their bye weeks, then rest isnt an issue.
December 16, 20169 yr I like Richard Sherman a lot and he is one of the very few NFL players I follow on Social Media but I was a little more intrigued by his comments directed at Coach Carroll about throwing from the one yard line. Or put another way, How do you like me now! http://bluegrasspreps.com/national-football-league/marshawn-lynch-conspiracy-297900.html [video=youtube;3umaLe37-LE]
