Lloyd actually scored first after Dayton turned the ball over on a bad shotgun snap. Nice mix of runs and Lloyd led 6-0 after missing the PAT.

Dayton came back to take a 7-6 lead. Then with five minutes to go before halftime the Greendevils stopped the Juggs on 4th down and then went on a dominating drive to score with less than a minute left in the half for a 14-6 lead.

The lead grew to 20-6 before Lloyd scored on a short catch and long run to cut it to 20-13.

Dayton answered right back even though they lost QB Hightchew momentarily on first and goal from the 9 and the back-up QB threw for the score. That made it 27-13.

Dayton tacked on a TD on an INT which Lloyd just threw up for grabs with 5 minutes to go in the game to make it 33-13.

For Lloyd:

Once again they might be the worse tackling team. Granted Dayton has some speed but the yards gained after the first arm tackle hit was significant. They lack speed on defense.

On offense they don't throw it real well and do not run it all that well either. The short passing game has some promise but the long ball just isn't there yet.

Could maybe hang around with Newport but behind that team for now.

For Dayton:

Defense did well considering Lloyd started every drive between the 41 and midfield. That was by design as Dayton squibb-kicked every kickoff. That alone will get them killed by NCC or Beechwood since they are letting teams start in 4 down territory. Find someone who can kick the ball. (Might I suggest the 110 pound girl at halftime who kicked a 20 yard field goal with 10 yards to spare and halfway up the net?)

Offense is totally controlled by Hightchew who either keeps the ball and runs, puts it in the belly of the RB on the option, or throws it. As he goes so goes Dayton and he threw it pretty well tonight and ran it exceptionally well.

I'd give Dayton the nod over Bellevue and Ludlow right now. As for taking on the bigger schools the Holy Cross game could be very interesting. Circle that one on the calendar as the Dayton crowd will be pumped up for that one, and it might be huge given Dayton must go to Ludlow and Bellevue.

Wow,What has happen to Lloyd.I'm not trying to take anything away from Dayton but i remember just a fews years ago Lloyd was always going deep in the playoffs.Congrats to Dayton though.

:thumb: My sentiments exactly. Congratulations to the Greendevils on a very good win but the Lloyd program must be in total disarray.

Looks like the GreenDevils are on the way firmly back to respectablility. This will make the Bellevue/Dayton game alot more exciting this season. Great Job GreenDevils.

Yea the Bellevue/Dayton game should be a decent game but don't forget the Panthers of Ludlow. Ludlow lost to Newport 13-6 tonight and Dayton lost to Newport last week 13-0. Sounds like two pretty evenly matched teams. Sort of tells me that things will be very interesting over the next several weeks.

Lloyd looks like it may be entering football purgatory for awhile...

My team spent the past 2 yrs. there. It's not a nice place. Just hang in, better days will come.

Shocker...not so much the win, but the final score.

I couldn't agree more. I can't say I expected a Dayton win, but certainly knew it could happen. I never would have thought it'd end up with a score like this though. Congrats Dayton, nice win.

As for Lloyd, 4-7 last year, and now this kind of start?

But, since you opened this road for traveling.

Dayton beat Grant County at Grant 14-12.

Ludlow lost to Grant County at Ludlow 33-13.

Puts a different spin on things, eh.

One live look at the roster, and you know they are there. Lloyd seems like it's a school district that repeats a 10 year cycle of 50/50 athletic performance with almost no middle ground. The overall talent level is down across the school right now. I hear a lot of good things about the younger kids on the way, but it could be a year or two before we see the improvement. The numbers still seem fine, and they kids play hard...
