Danville has some talented skill kids and have speed, but, I feel CALs size will give them the advantage in the trenches. CAL is also pretty fast as a team, but, I don't think they're overly impressive offensively, but, defensively, they're excellent.. I think they're good enough to hold Danville's offense to under 25 points and most likely considerably less, but, I'm allowing for a couple of big plays by the Ads.. While CAL isn't going to beat you by putting together long, sustained drives, they will get a couple of big defensive plays that gives them good field position and some easier scores and the Wright kid will get 2-3 scores by himself and their kicker will likely score a fg or 2.. I think CAL scores 41 and Danville scores 21..

David Walker is pretty dang good himself! Wright and Walker will be worth the price of admission. Only problem I see with that is who will cover Vancleave? Guarantee nobody on CAL can run with that kid including Wright.

Since MF has been in the finals at BG for the last 7 years I have knowledge that may help fans. CAL will be the home side this year. That is the smaller, newer side that has the suit on the upper level with roofed seating. The Ads will be on the larger, older visitors side. Hope this is useful and good luck!

Going with the Ads is a close one. A big special teams play, kick off or punt return is the difference.

I think the difference will be CAL's ability to stop the 50+ yard passes from Dampier to speedy receivers. If they can control that, they probably win. If they allow Danville to go deep 3-4 times, it'll be a good ballgame.

CALs DL probably won't give Dampier time to sit in the pocket long enough for a 50 yard pass play to develop. The Ads best chance is the short passes in space to their speedy receivers and let them see if they can break something. I don't expect them to be very successful running the ball. CAL pursues left to right very well and they're pretty stout on the interior, so, running right at them is tough, too. If the Ads can break a couple of long plays with the screens, shorter throws, that'll help open things up a little. Mayfield did have some success there and I feel Danville's team is very similar to Mayfield's, not real big in the trenches, but, versatile with a lot of playmakers all over the field. Danville's OL will have to do a better job containing the pressure and not try and force things over the top. If they're going to have success, they'll have to be patient and take what the D gives them, try and win the field position battle and not turn the ball over. Plus, there D will have to play fundamentally sound football against the run and force them to beat you thru the air..

Cal should win this one straight outta the gate...my prediction is..

As a rival to CAL, I feel kinda dirty picking them. But... I do think they will win. They are a pretty complete team. They have all phases covered. There are always unknowns, like turnovers, I feel that would have to happen for Danville to win. They will need some breaks. But hey it's football. Anything can happen! Good luck to both teams, play it hard with no injuries. Enjoy it for the year. Colts will be back next year.

As fast as Danville's receivers are Dampier won't need a whole lot of time to get the ball down the field for big plays. These kids are as fast as any high school players you'll find in Kentucky.

I talked to one of Danville's coaches Thursday. Sounds like another battle of size vs. speed
