The bolded is not even close.

Clinton was well under a majority his first time and still under the majority his 2nd term.

Most Democratic Presidents have had less than the majority or only a small fraction over the 50% mark backing them over history. Obama (1st term), LBJ, Roosevelt in this century. Jackson in the 19th century.

To paint Trump as historically unpopular is not at all accurate.

Are you sure about the Democratic Party historically? FDR pretty much led a United America for 12 years. LBJ won in a landslide but then the country fell apart under him. Andrew Jackson was a Democrat and then became Democratic-Republican.

I posted earlier that there have been previous Presidents in worse shape approval wise than Trump.

Just eyeballing the chart at the bottom of the wiki link indicates that only FDR and LBJ were well above the 50% popular vote mark.

Interesting that if using popular vote as measure (not sure what else to use) that two highest percentage vote getters in modern times are LBJ and.....Nixon in 1972. Reagen, second term, Eisenhower, second term, and Harding also did pretty well.

Reagan in 84 is a landslide we will never see again. So close to a clean sweep.
