I'm not ignoring it. I'm simply saying it doesn't impact him as much, because he still got the W for his team. If Lamar would've thrown 4 INTs last night and Louisville still wins, he's still the guy IMO.

RG3 and Manziel? He has similar numbers to those guys and still has two games to add. I also understand the best player on best team argument, but wouldn't Hurts have to have somewhat similar numbers to his competition? QB on best team makes sense when you have a Cam or a Tebow, but somebody like McCarron was never going to win.

I have already acknowledged that I think Jackson is going to and should easily win, just like Tebow, RGIII, and Manziel won it when their teams were not in the top 3.

The trophy is still Lamars, but you can't deny that guys like Hurts, Barrett, and as much as it pains me to say it Peppers (but I think his only shot is if he goes out and almost single handedly beats Ohio State) have HUGE stages to showcase their talents, for Barrett and Peppers the largest stage of any two players all year up to that point. Lamars stage was weeks 3 and 5. Those seem like forever ago now.

Wait, what? Let's be realistic here. Bama won and Hurts made big plays down the stretch. Wasn't his best game, but he did come up big in the 4th quarter. Louisville lost and while it wasn't all (or mostly) on Jackson, he didn't play great by any stretch.

 

Jackson will still likely win, but a close win in Baton Rouge is nothing like a blowout loss to Houston.

If there is a running back in NYC I think it will be Donnel Pumphrey. But I agree Cook is the best.

Can't tell if the first was sarcasm, because Barrett looked like crap. But I'm going to assume you meant Baker Mayfield and if you did I think he has all but clinched himself a spot in NYC. Cook should be there.

Correct, Barrett did look awful but Baker Mayfield looked great.

In thinking back, the closest shoe-in at this point of a season that I can remember was Troy Smith at tOSU. I still think he has the largest margin of victory. I wonder if Jackson will surpass that?

That was the last impression he's going to have left voters with.

 

In the meantime, guys like Jalen Hurts are going to have multiple large stage opportunities to make a big impression.

 

Lamar may still end up winning, but as of right now, I'm moving my eggs to the Jalen Hurts basket.
