Trump's campaign personnel outperformed Clinton's by a large margin. I believe I heard that she outspent him by 2x yet he pulled the upset. Getting Kellyanne Conway (sp) onboard seemed to have helped him immensely. I don't necessarily buy that Trump was appealing to our baser values. No one will ever be able to convince me that Clinton would have done whatever nefarious thing was required if her campaign thought it would help her win. Let's be forthright about this.

I don't have to like him. And as long as he can do some good, I'll do my best to let bygones be bygones. But if I see evidence that such attitudes are influencing policy in a negative way toward women and minorities, I won't hesitate to call it out. There is a lot at stake for both groups.

 

If I see the same degrading language and cavalier treatment toward women or minorities, I too will call him on that. I want my granddaughters and nieces to be able to achieve whatever they want to. I have one niece who has worked so hard, she is just finishing her second year of medical school. She wants to be an orthopedic surgeon. No one should have to put up with disgusting behavior, period.

I am not buying the campaign personnel stuff. Heck, Trump fired multiple people from his staff including a couple campaign manager level people so I am not even sure who we should call his campaign personnel. And he rolled on regardless of what personnel were there in his campaign. This campaign was all about him and the credit for its success shouldn't go to anyone but him. In fact, I think if we compared his campaign organization to just about any other person who ran for president, his organization would probably be at the bottom of the list. If anyone should get some credit though it would be Conway.

He finally got the right people in. His persona changed over the last few weeks.

We've heard how Hillary pandered to different groups of folks, but so did DT. He used the fear of minorities to get White rural Americans to vote for him. He got the angry white man and his wife who hate BO (and minorities in general) out to vote for him. He used that, the fact that Clinton was just as terrible of a candidate, and the IQ of some of his voters to get the votes he needed.

And no, that doesn't mean that everyone who voted for him falls into that category, so save your breath on that.

I do not respect, trust, or like Trump, but I voted for him in the hope that justice will finally find its way to the Clintons' front door. However, it is very unfair to accuse Trump of appealing to racists to win the election. In fact, I have not seen the numbers yet, but I have read that Trump fared better among black voters than any Republican since 1960.

 

As for Hispanics, when did advocating enforcing immigration laws become racist? Americans of Hispanic ancestry are as adversely affected by illegal immigration as any other group of Americans.

 

I give credit to Trump for facing predominately black audiences and asking them what they had to lose by taking a chance voting for a Republican for a change. More Republicans need to engage in such straight talk and they need to do it at every opportunity. You cannot expect people to vote for you if you do not ask for their votes. Jack Kemp was the last Republican presidential nominee that I recall making a serious appeal to minority voters the way that Trump has.

 

Most of the poorest, most crime infested areas of our country have been governed by liberal Democrats for decades. I hope that Trump continues to make appeals to minorities and pushes school choice, enterprise zones, and other programs to help inner city residents break away from the clutches of the politicians who prefer exchanging handouts for votes over spreading prosperity to every corner of America.

 

Republicans should not try to out pander liberal Democrats and they should also not ignore minority voters by assuming that they will not consider a conservative alternative to the corrupt politicians who have accepted their votes for very little in return.

 

I hate the way that Hillary Clinton and most Democrats attempt to pit different demographic groups against one another. Sound government policies should benefit all Americans. There is no excuse for the kind of pandering in which Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton engaged during this campaign.

No doubt. He played to people's fears, and definitely benefitted from racial prejudices. On the flip side of that coin, how many poorly educated voters and voters with lower intelligence levels voted for President Obama because of the color of his skin? I can't help but think that as much as Trump was happily pandering to certain white voters' racial prejudices, so was President Obama pandering to certain black voters' racial prejudices.

 

The thing that I take away from this is the fact that 240 years after "all men are created equal", here we are with our current President and our President-elect continuing to use racial prejudices to get votes. Miserably sad.

 

Not IMO. Now had Obama been saying to blacks something like "I am going to get us our 40 acres and a mule that we are owed" then I would call that pandering. He didn't have to pander to get the black vote. Trump had to work to secure the votes amongst whites that he did and I can only imagine the true fallout had Obama taken that same approach with black people in 2008. He never would have won.

Because a lot of blacks know the real truth about Hillary. That's what killed me about this election. Folks were so worried about Hillary's emails. Nevermind that she and Bill used the government to make money for themselves and their friends in the private prison scheme that played a large role in the mass incarceration of blacks. The black vote she did get was purely an anti-Trump vote. Dave Chappelle described it perfectly.

He should of said it differently, I'll definitely agree with that. However, I seriously doubt he meant EVERY Illegal Mexican that comes across the border is a rapist and a criminal.

Which is why I said how he said it and his delivery. After saying what he said initially it ruined the very last sentence of his rant.
