A legitimate division 1 prospect kicker is junior Evan Jones from Central Hardin. After four games he is 18 for 18 on extra points and 5 for 5 on field goals with 43 being the longest. Evan has routinely made 50+ yard field goals in pregame warm-ups and made a 48 yard in game field goal last year. Keep an eye on and remember the name Evan Jones.

St.X kicker Jeff Sexton received scholarship to Princeton and will most likely be there kicker next year. He can kick ball out of endzone on kickoffs and has FG range to 50 yards. He kicked two field goals over 40 yards last week against Central.

The player from St. X probably has an academic scholarship because , as I understand it, Ivy League schools do not give athletic scholarships.

He’s very good student so I’m sure academic.

Maybe the single most underrated part of the game.

 

The ability of being automatic in PAT’s, even FG’s from a distance is obviously important.

 

But field position is so extremely pivotal in the high school game. You can be average on offense (lack of speed/big play ability) and be the same on defense, but if you have a kicker and/or punter that can flip the field? You become a dang tough team to beat.

 

Making people start on the 20 everytime you score and flipping the field on punts dictates more games than most care to admit.

I didn’t realize this thread started 3 years ago. Some of those names mentioned earlier sounded familiar. I didn’t think they were still in HS.

I am curious to know who if anyone went on to the next level and where did they go?
