Dude the universe is so big, like unfathomably big. There has got to be life out there. Maybe not intelligent life, but some sort of creepy crawly is slugging along 10 million light years away.

 

Go to YouTube and type in universe, let your mind be blown for a few minutes

 

Remember, the Earth is about 4.5 Billion years old (this always makes me think of the Creationist) and the Universe is about 14 Billion years old. My point is @ThrillVille Cardinal51 is when you consider the numbers we humans are the creepy crawlies.

On the subject of Aliens visiting Earth, most people dismiss it because the enormous distance between the stars/planets but remember everyone we are thinking about it with our 2016 Brains. Think of it this way, we went from not being able to fly to landing on the Moon in 70 years. Or put in simple terms, we understand very little about how the Universe works (Google Dark Matter, Dark Energy, and Quantum Entanglement for starters) so chances are in all that we don't understand there are ways to navigate great distances in a short period of time that we can't even fathom yet.

I love thinking about this...I think the next 30-50 years we will see some crazy advancements in the speed of space travel.

 

Already some engines in development that have the potential of Warp Speed (speed of light), at least in theory. It will take years and billions to get them full scale operational, but I have zero doubt that Warp or near Warp speed space travel will be possible within 50 years.
