The DoJ should never have been involved in the Michael Brown shooting. Brown was a suspect in a state criminal case and the investigation of his shooting should have been left to state and local authorities. The fact that the DoJ involved itself is just evidence of the racial and political bias of the Obama administration.

 

I have already explained multiple times why the 138 number, which you initially quoted inaccurately, is not evidence that the Reagan administration was any more corrupt than any other administration. Federal agencies in the executive branch employ hundreds of thousands of people and if the Attorney General is doing his or her job, there will be investigations, indictments, prosecutions, and convictions of federal employees working in any president's administration. A high or low number is as much a measure of the DoJ's commitment to seeking justice as it is a measure of corruption.

It is a good thing for Trump that he is running against a world class liar who could become the second member of her immediate family to be impeached. IMO, the evidence that Hillary has committed high crimes and misdemeanors is much stronger than it was against her husband.

 

As for being smart, Trump and Hillary are simply campaigning where their pollsters tell them they should. The best way to judge the trend in a presidential campaign is to pay attention where the candidates spend their time on the two days before the election. Trump has the momentum. Whether it is too little, too late will be decided on Tuesday, but there is no debating who has the momentum right now.

I know that there are many liberal Democrats and moderate Republicans who do not believe what happened in Greece and other countries that have gone on such spending sprees cannot happen here, but the debt will be repaid one way or another - with interest, a lower standard of living, and/or with blood in the streets.

You do realize that Republicans control a good deal of our federal govt even with Obama in office?

When you look at state govts the GOP controls more, so maybe the responsibility of debt and other issues falls on both parties.

That's no threat. When an economy crashes, as it always has when governments borrow beyond their means to repay, depression, hunger, and anger settles in among the population. The result, no matter which political party is in control of the government on the day of reckoning, is political unrest - and blood in the streets becomes more than a metaphor.

Maybe that was because the economy did not crash. What happened was technically a deep recession followed by the weakest economic recovery in modern history.

 

This country is on a path to hyperinflation because politicians have already begun printing surplus currency to create a bubble of relative prosperity. Already, countries are taking steps to undermine the American dollar's status as the world's reserve currency and that status is delaying the crash of the dollar's value against other world currencies. Even the great Roman Empire was held accountable for devaluing its own currency after many years of living beyond its means.

I don't remember 1929 at all, but I also don't remember reading about the U.S. being deeply in debt in 1929. It is one thing for a prosperous, powerful nation to withstand the strain a a deep depression, but imagine if the federal government had been so deeply in debt that it could not have paid federal employees, maintained the military, or provided temporary jobs and food to stave off starvation among its citizens.

 

When paper money becomes worthless, except for wall papering homes, a nation is powerless to deal with widespread joblessness, homelessness, and deep poverty spanning multiple generations.
