Is 2019 the best class to come through Kentucky in recent memory?

Featured Replies

2019 looks to have at least 5 High Major prospects in Rode (LCA), Tandy (UHA), Johnson(Trinity), Allen (Pendelton), and Moreno (Scott Co.) As well as many more who will play D1. I know nothing is set in stone yet but these 5 could end up at HM schools. Other than 2015 when was the last time there were 5 HM recruits in one class in Kentucky?

I feel like a few of these players have higher ceilings then the 2015 players so this class could be better the thing that stands out to me about 2015 is the size with Holman and Spalding.

I think it is highly likely. I think of Quentin Snider's class as one of the best I have seen in a while. 2015 was strong as well. 2019 looks really really strong.

Imo 1-2 of the players mentioned will not go high major. They are not big enough to be "bigs" and not good enough shooters and/or athletic enough to be guards. Not to mention their ceiling is lower because of their age. We are seeing more and more of this early hype and then tailing off as things even out maturity wise when they get to be a junior and senior.

This gets said about every class when they're freshman and sophomores. There's a lot of talent here, but time will tell.

IMO Tandy and Johnson are well on their way and the class is very good. Cozart from Madison Central deserves mention also, he is a bigger kid (6'7") that has special defensive skills. If his offensive game catches up he could be the highest of them all because of his size. 2019 is very good, an upswing with nice potential.

Yeah, a couple of them I'm not so sure about. Won't mention names....but really don't get the hype about a couple of them...and I've seen them enough to draw conclusions

2019 may be the best ever but they'll only hold that distinction for one year...2020 is LOADED.

That might be the case, and I hope it is, but count me in the camp of, not putting much stock in freshman and sophomore projected to be Elite talk. Probably 95% of players put in that category don't end up there when the HS career is done. Doesn't mean they wont play at the next level, but just not at the level or schools ppl thought they would have when they were freshman or sophomores. I can think of a couple of seniors that were talked about as the next Elite out of Kentucky, but have flat-lined or more then likely others have caught up to them and you don't hear the recruiting buzz that you did when they were freshman or sophomores. Again, all will play at the next level, but when you start projecting high D-1, you are talking about very few, and very special all around players. Unfortunately you see more regression/stagnation in the latter years of those projected to be dominate in their younger years. Just my 2 cents for what its worth.

What I've seen of 2020 is not impressive at all.

Statewide all-star teams have performed well vs out of state competition.

Not really sure how you came up with your assertion that they aren't good but everyone has their opinion and only time will tell.

Can someone list the offers currently held by the top players in this class?

2020 aint even close to 2019 IMO. 2020 has 3-4 kids that might have shot at mid-high major d1. 2019 has 8-10 that maybe there. 2020 does have a lot of really good talent just not much size to go with it which puts most those kids in d2 naia.

Justin Powell(Trinity) only one I know of in 2020 that has d1 offers as of now. Kennasaw St. and Stetson have both offered him this summer as an 8th grader.

A lot of kids will really grow in size this year. Some will start out as 6' freshman and end up 6'3 " or 6'4" sophomores. I like the 2020 class but way to early to tell. Imo
