Is 2019 the best class to come through Kentucky in recent memory?

Featured Replies

2020 aint even close to 2019 IMO. 2020 has 3-4 kids that might have shot at mid-high major d1. 2019 has 8-10 that maybe there. 2020 does have a lot of really good talent just not much size to go with it which puts most those kids in d2 naia.

Time will tell.

I new that I just get a kick how when a kid is good people always say they must be older or "hold back".

Justin as smooth as Tennessee Whiskey. lol I have never seen the kid get frustrated.

.....and their usually right. By the way, turning 15 summer before your freshman year can go either way. I have a July birthday and turned 14 the summer before my freshman year and same for two of my kids. That being said, l really don't care either way. To each his own.

Unless a parent or someone has altered a birth certificate to falsify an age, then I am not sure why this topic continues to get mentioned. There are rules in place to address age & eligibility. If a young man's family chooses to change the pace of their graduation year, it is a decision they are afforded. Some like the extra year for whatever and some don't, but it is a personal choice. If they are playing within the rules, who cares if they could potentially by 18 months or so older than others in their graduating class. As long as records are not forged it is a non-issue for me.

Justin Powell(Trinity) only one I know of in 2020 that has d1 offers as of now. Kennasaw St. and Stetson have both offered him this summer as an 8th grader.

Good gosh, since when did we start determining how good a class is or isn't by how many offers kids in that class receive as 8th graders?

Ummmmm...I will have to bite my tongue on this one...completely different topic and thread. I had this conversation with a parent the other day about a freshman who turned 16 in early/mid September.

We don't but I am talking about what both classes look like today. They may change in 2-3 years and probably will but as of now 2019 is ahead of 2020 IMO and my kid is in 2020 class. Thats all it is is my opinion. I have coached both these classes for 8 years. I hope both classes end up top notch. 2020 is gonna be pretty dang solid too but as of now just not much size in that class

Agree. If folks dont like the rules make a push for KHSAA to change it. If not put your big boy panties on and play by the rules we have.

That's my thought. I coach several kids in this age group and have been with a couple of them to camps and seen some others in the class as well. But I think they need at least a couple of years on the high school court to get a good read. As you said above I haven't seen a lot of size with this group, but that could always change.
