I too think it would be a great game but the pedigree of teams that Trinity has played and won against is very impressive. As good as BG is this year I would still be incredibly neevous in that game. Wish they would reschedule each other but if it is not going to happen, oh well. Sucks that there is bad blood because I have alot of respect for the Trinity fans and program.

I honestly don't know. The last I heard Coach Wallace had made it clear he wouldn't play Trinity again. For what reason I don't know.

I am 100% biased but I've never heard of anyone that has visited Trinity that has said they've been treated any way other then outstanding. I know the people that actually work at Trinity pride themselves on treating visitors well. I really have to wonder if there wasn't some misunderstanding that could possibly be addressed.

I wasn't there so I can't speak to what happened. I know as a fan of the game, loyal BG supporter, fan of KY High School Sports, I would love to see this game happen at some point. I understand if it doesn't happen and will support whatever decision is made concerning the game. I'd welcome the past staying the past in this situation and seeing a compromise and a scheduled game with these two current KY powerhouses. It's overdue.

BGHS still has a week 10 opening for 17-18. Trinity has a week 0 opening. The other nine games are under contract on both sides. The schools have communicated but you can not fit a square peg into a round hole.

I think the Lit ratings must be giving Belfry major points for playing arguably the top 1 or 2 team in Tennessee.

Belfry is not in that league, they just aren't being punished for their TN loss and Trinity isn't being rewarded for their two wins against highly rated TN teams. Good fodder for arguments, though.

Actually they get neither credit or punishment. Out of state games are just neutral to the Lit formula. The loss doesn't even enter the ratings, and neither does Trinity's wins against Brentwood or Ensworth. It is just a peculiarity with this very old computer rating system.

Sure, in today's world, yes. When it was developed I bet it was a marvel of modern design. It was developed light years before anyone could imagine the possibility of tracking game results from multiple states and having them at your fingertips through the wonders of the computer and internet.

 

I am amazed it has continued to be used and debated until present day. There are bigger and better systems out there that encompass the whole country now and so to us not using out of state results seems really flawed.

 

Can anyone imagine how this was calculated in the 1930's? Was it a statewide system then? If so that was some heavy duty arithmetic with pencil and paper on a weekly basis, and likely a full time job. Boggles my mind thinking about it.

I agree.

 

If the powers that be wanted to make it better they would enlist in the help of some Kentucky Mathematicians to refine the algorithms and and make it a sliding scale (sliding algorithm) as the season and results progress.

 

We all know these are pretty accurate by the end of the year but every year they kill their own credibility with early season blunders that there is no recovering from.
