Why did you immediately want take out the most successful era in HHS basketball history? Kind of makes me think your arguement is already broken and you know it.

 

I could go more in depth, but that tends to get ignored sometimes. Since you think competing for the regional championship should be the goal at HHS, name for me the last time they weren't in that tournament. It's been a while.

How many times in the last 10 years have they won it? Just getting to the regional is a given, competing once you get there is a different story. I leave out the Lorenzen Smith era because it is an abberation. Those kind of athletes are few and far between. I played for HHS and I do not think their recent track record is acceptable. I would love for them to win with or without football players. I just do not think it can be done when half the team spends all summer long on the football field and won't hit practice until after the 1st week in December. We can revisit this in mid January and see where they're at.

I thought this thread was about projected lineups for the 9th and 10th regions team, not a history lesson about Highlands.

That's huge for Holmes. They will need his size but I guess the question is " how long before he's not"?

 

To be quite honest, with Edmondson gone, I don't see team chemistry being a problem this year. I have personally spoken to Greg and he knows he must stay focused and not let last year get in his way. Face it folks, 4 of the top 8 players in the region play on the same team.

 

(Rice, Jeffeson, Hill, Henderson.)

 

Covcath is the only 9th region team that will give them a run. Holy Cross just doesn't have enough.

 

IMO the top 3 teams in the region all reside in the 35th district.

I also agree. Holmes is the most athletic team hands down, with or without Nate Edmonson. I also did not remember that BJ Avery was a senior last year, is he related to Braeon?

 

Between CCH and Holmes:

 

Best PG: Holmes

Most Athletic: Holmes

Best amount of shooting ability: CovCath

Most depth: You could argue Holmes or CovCath on that one. I think that Holmes has probably 1 or 2 more talented bench players, but CCH can probably go about 7 or so without losing much talent and can even bring a few more in after that if needed.

 

Top 2 teams in the region reside again from the same district, and if Jimmy Ryan decides to take off, we'll see Holy Cross in the mix.

 

Team chemistry could be Holmes' downfall again this season. I look for the battles in the 35th between CCH and Holmes to continue to be classics.

Gettin to the region is a given because of the "less than stellar district

' they play in. Throw them in the 35th and the and making it to the region would be a successful year.
