Paul Dunbar vs PRP

Featured Replies

People always say that PRP is good, and they are but it seems every year they do not do well in the playoffs. I think they will fall again to Male and X.

That being said the running game seems to be stacked this year so maybe this is the year they shock Male and X. But I don't think so.

Traditionally I agree...but they are under new leadership now...Coach Wolfe is a heck of a Coach and made quite an impact in the district last year...Which is WITHOUT A DOUBT the toughest in the state. PRP started a ton of sophs last year, so with another year under Wolfe I expect them to be even better.

Alabama Larry is a Male football parent.

*slaps myself in the head* I knew that. Sorry AL.

That's why I don't care for our playoffs. Too unbalanced, IMO.

I agree that they will fall to St. X and Male this year. They'll play hard, but those two teams will be too much for anyone except Trinity... as usual. I think PRP does have a better chance than most, though. And even if Manual keeps improving with each game, I still see PRP being the favorite when they play.

Dunbar is a well-coached football team, but have elected (evidently not by choice, but rather based on their personnel) that gives them some huge disadvantages. Their style makes them very difficult to beat if they can get the lead early in the game. This style also prevents them from having much of a chance to come from behind and win a football game. In the Montgomery Bell Academy ballgame, they were only behind 14-7 in the third quarter, but it was easy to sense they had little chance of winning the ballgame.

I hope PRP's players haven't written off Dunbar, because, Dunbar is still capable of winning almost every game they play. Dunbar is expereinced on the line, and their conservative style of play early on, is allowing them to stay close and have a chnce to win, which, with their personnel right now, is genius.

I agree.

Dunbar has the talent to win every game from this point forward. Their strengths are a strong offensive line and a tough defense. The problem is they need to take the lead early because they also have the ability to lose most every game in a catch up situation.

I feel they will be able to effectively pass the football when they are ahead as an element of surprise, but not in a come-from-behind situation which is what we have seen in their first two ballgames.

Hopefully they are full strength soon. Injuries can be nasty!

I agree, why should Dunbar go out and try to throw every down if they don't have the personel. The style they are playing is to their advantage. Run the ball, eat up clock, play tough defense. That being said, it will be hard to blow people out, but it should keep them close in every game. The only problem with that style is that if they give up big plays (MC game) and get behind.

I still think they will be ready for PRP's speed/skill players. Dunbar saw some athletes on the field last Friday night in Richmond. I am not trying to be a homer, but MC has some very good skill players.

I've had the opportunity to see both play, and think Dunbar has an excellent shot to win this one. Turnovers killed them last week. They fix that and PRP will have their hands full.

I think a few people may be doing a little bit of overestimating PRP and underestimating PD... but the way I see it, either Dunbar wins by a TD, or PRP wins from a margin of... 1 to 3 TDs, depending.

I'll say

PRP- 28

Dunbar- 13

I think this will be a telling game for both teams.

This is tremendous...we're about to set a posting record on a PRP game! :thumb:

Let's keep it going then

PRP 21

Dunbar 7

How about Big 3 and Medium 1.:D Just to clarify, I'm referring to X, Trinity, Male, and Manual. We've got a PRP guy now, but where are fans of the other good programs? I would think Ballard, Central, Waggener, etc. would have some fans, but I really don't recall seeing them on here.

Works for me. :D :D

I want to get to see PRP but I don't think this is the right opportunity. I would say coach Wolfe will have the boys ready for this one.

PRP 35, Dunbar 7

I saw the Dunbar-MBA game and also saw LexCath scrimmage PRP. PRP has a better passing attack, but I can't see them pounding it up the middle successfuly against the excellent PLD D-line. I also can't see PLD scoring more then a couple Tds against PRP. It should be a competitive game and close enough to give the home team the edge.
